The Scoop

at City Hall

To the Editor:

Nice job on the Mount Olivet Lutefisk story in the January Gazette.  I'll bet you never have seen so many Scandinavian sweaters in one place.

To the Editor:

What a great newspaper to read.  You write about kids, older people, and whatever is going on.  Very entertaining.  Keep up the good work.  We found the fishhook on page 24, where the tree trunk on the Catholic United Financial ad has an extra piece of wood.

To the Editor:

I am pleased to report that a copy of the Victoria Gazette is sent to Westview Acres.  One of the perks of being here is that coffee is available 24/7 and your paper is put on the table where we coffee drinkers sit and discuss the world events.  I do not know if the Gazette is a gift or if Westview pays for a subscription.  All I can say is that I see many of the folks here reading it.

While Harriet and I do miss Victoria, we are very well pleased to be living here.  We have met many nice folks, but the gals outnumber the guys at least 25 to one.  One of the new people living here (or soon will be) is Virginia Stowe, one of your fairly close neighbors in Victoria.

We are so very lucky to have you in charge of the Victoria Gazette.

To the Editor:

I am the Tiger Cub den leader for Victoria Pack 589.  I am wondering if you have time available for the Tiger Cubs to come by for a tour and short presentation on how you communicate with others.

There are five scouts in my den and we generally meet from 6:30 to 7:30 on Monday evenings.  If needed, we can be flexible with our meeting schedule, either meeting earlier or switching meeting days.  Please let me know if a tour is a possibility and then we can try to work out the details.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

We are excited if you could join us at the celebration and dedication of the new Blessing House in Victoria on Saturday, January 26th.  A light soup and bread supper will be served from 5 to 7 p.m.  A worship team will then lead us in open prayer, praise and worship as we give glory to God for His faithfulness throughout this journey.  The Blessing House is located at 8705 Church Lake Boulevard.

To the Editor:

As a resident of Victoria, I have always been impressed with the numerous beautiful bodies of water we have in (or close by) our city.  Not only do I enjoy being on our lakes, but the stillness of the water is relaxing and even therapeutic.  And although it can be cold, it's hard to beat the peacefulness of snowshoeing along the shores of our lakes.  What a great resource to all of us!

On Wednesday, February 20th, 2013, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Victoria's City Hall, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD), which is the local government organization responsible for protecting the water resources of our watershed district, will be holding a public open house.  We are all invited!

This is our opportunity to weigh in on what we would like to see happen with our lakes and creeks to ensure that these precious resources will be clean and available  for future generations.

Please join me!  The actual meeting will take no more than an hour of your time, and it's an easy way we can give back.  I look forward to seeing you.
