The Terrain at Tioga. The terrain doesn't resemble the flat farmland in southwestern Minnesota, nor the forest land in northern Minnesota, and not the limestone cliffs and river bottom land of southeastern Minnesota. It resembles the lunar landing of long ago when the USA was more interested in the moon than in the earth's natural amenities and gifts to us of coal, oil, and natural gas. I took this picture on our way to the fish house, through the window of Jenny's four-wheel drive pickup truck. Everyone drives pickup trucks. Sue Orsen Victoria, Minnesota

Koehnen Kids. This is the latest photo of the children. In order for me to keep their names in place, I need to practice, and so from the oldest down to the youngest, they are Mafalada, Tiago, Carlota, Lourenco, Anita, Natacha, and Rebeca. Tim Koehnen Vila Real, Portugal
Junior Varsity Skiers enjoy a moment at the Thursday, January 24th, South Suburban Conference Junior Varsity finals at Elm Creek Park Reserve. That's yours truly, Assistant Nordic Coach Kurt Zuppke for Chaska/Chanhassen, who also got in the picture. Left to right: Claire Bulat (Team Co-Captain, 12 grader, Chanhassen), Julia Bulat (Chaska Middle School East, 7th grader), Sheridan Weir (10th grader, Chaska), Mariah Jackels (10th grader from Victoria). That Thursday culminated a two-day pursuit event which started Wednesday at Theodore Wirth Park where the JV's must ski a 5-kilometer (3-mile) freestyle (skate) race, after which they are ranked in order of their completion times for that day. Then on Thursday they skied a 5K classic (diagonal stride) race. Their consecutive times are added together to get their final ranking for the two-day event. Both days were successful and a good time was had by all in spite of the sub zero windchills. Kurt Zuppke Chaska, Minnesota
