Family Cabin Supreme by Chuck Freiberg, Up North Cabin Guy. “The 18 of us spent time as a family group, fishing, golfing, swimming, biking, boating, canoeing, eating, sitting around th campfire, painting rocks, playing cribbage and dominoes.”

At the Sunset Fest by Sue Orsen. “Meteorologists gave a 70% chance of rain, but it didn’t rain.  Some people called it a miracle.  The outdoor festivities at St. Victoria went off without a hitch.”

At the Ice Cream Social by Sue Orsen. “Meteorologists gave a 20% chance of rain, but it rained!  Not for long, however, and the sunset that evening was beautiful.”

For Veterans and Firefighters by Randy Maluchnik, Carver County Commissioner.  “Two initiatives illustrate Carver County’s commitment to those who protect us.  We are helping firefighters stay safe on the job and veterans find employment.”

St. Victora’s Got Talent by Sue Orsen. “There were 15 performances at the Live Talent Show.  Proceeds went to Sharing and Caring Hands.”

Lake Virginia Park by Sue Orsen. “It hasn’t been used by the public as a recreational park since September of 2007.  But new park construction should be completed by the summer of 2013.”

The End Was Near! by Sue Orsen.  “The ceremonial Ribbon cutting meant the end of heat and Hwy 5 detours was near, and there was more celebration in the air than humidity.”

The End At Hand!  by Sue Orsen.  “After three months of construction, traffic was flowing smoothly through Victoria on Friday afternoon, August  3st.

The Sink Hole Rises by Sue Orsen. “In August the surcharge was replaced with 1,900 geofoam blocks which are essentially Styrofoam blocks with structural capacity to replace the material with a lighter load.  This will alleviate the sink hole.”

The Bridge is Built by Sue Orsen. “Approximately 90 pilings were driven, each 55 to 65 feet deep.  Seven I-beams were installed, each of them 135 feet long, each weighing 54 tons.”
