ART MEMORIAL AT DIETHELM PARK

REMEMBERING LEXI KRETSCH IN VICTORIA

         Ann Mahnke, Director of Parks and Public Works, reported October 26th that City Clerk Jennie Kretsch and her family seek to donate a boulder and plaque in honor of her daughter Lexi who was killed in a car accident this past summer.  Council voted 5-0 to accept the donation,

 

PAVERS APPROVED FOR BAYFRONT PARK

NEAR STIEGER LAKE INDOWNTOWN VICTORIA

         Council unanimously approved an expenditure of $66,975 on October 26th for hardscape at Bayfront Park.  Of that amount, $12,975 is for the purchase of pavers from Timberwall in Victoria, and $54,000 is for the installation by Hartman Companies of Victoria.

 

DR. SCOTT JENSEN VISITS VICTORIA

HIS PASSION IS HEALTH CARE

         Dr. Scott Jensen introduced himself to councilmembers on October 26th in the Open Forum part of the agenda.  Dr. Jensen is seeking the Republican nomination for the 2016 Senate seat in District 47, the seat currently held by Julianne Ortman who is not seeking re-election.  He and his wife are residents of Laketown Township.

VICTORIA AREA NEEDS MORE ELECTRICITY

SUBSTATION AND LINE UPGRADE PROPOSED

         Council tabled action October 12th on an Xcel Energy substation and line upgrade proposal.  Stated City Manager Laurie Hokkanen, "Our community is served by two companies.  Electricity is still a messy, unsightly thing to provide.  We did a ride along with Xcel.  In general, we want to understand the best solution.  It looks like our residents in the northeast part of the city will continue to live with frequent outages."

 

SHORTER SCOOP FROM OCTOBER

VICTORIA MN 55318 OKAY IN CHEVALLE

         *Laurie reported that a call from the USPS indicates Victoria residents in the Chevalle development may use Victoria, MN 55318 as their mailing address.  Everyone else in Chevalle is a resident of Chaska, MN 55318.  The USPS denied a request for Victoria residents to have a Victoria carrier route and a Victoria, MN 55386 address.
