In This Centennial Year:  Dancing with the Diethelms by Sue Orsen/The Victoria Gazette“Bob and Darla Diethelm were married on October 25th, 1975.  The Deutschmeisters played for their wedding dance at the Paradise Ballroom.  As they celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary, their new favorite dance is ‘The Anniversary Waltz.’ It will be played by their favorite band, Chuck Theil and the Jolly Ramblers.”  Click on Front Page.

The Sun Shined Again on Victoria by Sue Orsen. “It rained the night of Friday, October 23rd.  The next morning we woke to a misty coldness and grayness.  But that very Saturday afternoon the sun came out, the sky turned blue, the leaves became more vibrant in color, and the Downtown Halloween Party began.”

A Nip in the Air Up North by Chuck Freiberg, Up North Cabin Guy. “We actually pulled the trigger and are now residing at our lake property near Webster, Wisconsin.  The Cabin Gal retired from Macy’ on the same day as my birthday.”

Reviewing Four Sketch Plats by Sue Orsen. Mayor Tom O’Connor reviews the 4-plus acre plat for 19 twin homes on the Stowe property, the Lano/Burau site of 34 acres platted for 92 villas of singe family living and 70 townhomes, a 145-unit apartment building for the Leuthner Well/Bavaria Land Company property, and, finally, 24 new lots on the Vanderlinde property on Bavaria Road.

Golf is Definitely Cool by Tom Abts, Deer Run Golf Pro. “Do you think golf is cool?  What does cool mean?  Remember Fonzie on Happy Days?  He was supposed to be cool.  I didn’t think he was cool.  Arnold Palmer is cool.  The essence of golf is cool.”

The Author of “Satin Sheets” by Sue Orsen. Writes Judy Volinkaty, a resident at Deer Run, “I am the widow of John Volinkaty who is the writer of a famous country song entitled ‘Satin Sheets.’  John is being inducted into the MN Music Hall of Fame.”

STRR, STP, CAA, SIP, WOTUS by Randy Maluchnik, Carver County Commissioner. They stand for Surface Transporta-tion Reauthorization and Reform Act, Surface Transportation System, Clean Air Act, State Implementation Plans, Waters of the United States.  There are others.

Friends Build Walk Bridge In Memory of Joe Smith by Rob O’Brien. “Several of Joe’s golf buddies got together and decided to do something special to honor Joe’s memory and raise money for research to find a cure for ALS.”
