To the Editor:

I thought your note under the Click Start (Virus Computer) ad in May was so appropriate:  “Love is a virus.  It can happen to anybody at any time.”  The wedding of Brian and Jenna is fast approaching.  Thanks for your wonderful creativity.

I just read through your June Gazette.  Congratulations on 30 years!  I hope we can get an ad in July.  Please let me know your deadline.

To the Editor:

I occasionally find time to read your newspaper.  The worst thing I can say is that it’s charming!  You have a great newspaper.

It occurred to me today that I may be able to help many by contacting you.  I live in Victoria and my business is based in Victoria, although I do work nationally.  I have been an executive recruiter for 20 years and have often thought of writing articles for a paper on job hunting tips, advice, encouragement.

Headhunters do know the true tricks of getting that job (employers tell us things they would never tell the candidates), how to interview (many people haven’t interviewed in years), and the best way to present a resume.

Is this something you may be interested in for the Victoria Gazette?  Kind of a “Ask the Headhunter” column?  Just a thought.  Feel free to contact me.  Again, great paper!

To the Editor:

Congratulations on your 30-year anniversary with the Gazette.  You did an excellent job “With Heart and Soul.”  Brings  back a lot of good memories.  I think you will take on another 30!!  You could do it.  The fishhook is on the butcher block of the Mackenthun’s ad.  With heart and soul ...

To the Editor:

Good morning, gloomy as it is today.  Wondering if you can help me.  I’m working with the Metropolitan Council on our SAC charges for the addition for Floyd’s and the upcoming patio redo.  They need documentation that the building was operating as a bar in 1972 and it seems that the file on our property has gone missing at City Hall.  Hoping you have an article in your archives.  Let me know what you find.

To the Editor:

There will be a “Progressive” Business After Hours event in Victoria on June 11th at four downtown businesses -- Andrew Schultz State Farm Agency, Fresh Seasons Market, Victoria Rose Floral, and Floyd’s.  These participants will provide refreshments, tours, and perhaps a drawing for prizes.  Please plan to attend this fun networking event.  Hope to see you there.

To the Editor:

Hi, Great Aunt Susan!  This is Jackson.  I have a joke to share with you for the newspaper.  What happens when you cross a turtle with a porcupine?  You get a slow-poke.  Also, we would like to subscribe to your paper now that we don’t live with Nana and Papa.  See you on Sunday.

To the Editor:

Congratulations on 30 years of keeping us informed of Victoria’s happenings!  I was just out of 8th grade at Guardian Angels School in Chaska in June of 1979.  Kathy Kraemer was just out of high school in 1979.

I remember my mom talking about getting a Gazette paper on her trips to the store.  I had no clue what she meant.  She described it as a small brown paper stapled together but I never saw that issue.  When it got to the newspaper-like format, it was more visible.  Mom would walk by the stack of Gazettes in the store, with her mind on other things, worried about if she had her 50-cent coupons for the double off deals.  Sometimes I’d startle her and place the Gazette in the grocery cart when she was studying her shopping list and coupons.  Her shoulders shrugged and she’d say, “Where did you find that??”  When I showed her the spot, her usual reply was, “Ach, yeah!”  I can always hear her saying,  “Ach, yeah” or “Ach, no!”

Found your fishhook on page 11 in the June Gazette on the butcher block of the Mackenthun’s ad.  Ach, yeah!  Guess who’s 44 on July 24th?  Ach, yeah, it’s tough getting old.
