To the Editor:

I just finished reading the December issue of the Victoria Gazette, and what a treat it is. Thank you for putting your heart and soul and energy into this splendid hometown newspaper. When I thought about the fact that you are the pianist at the church, and you are writing and editing the paper, it made me think of the play by Thornton Wilder, Our Town, where each and every individual matters. Have a great Christmas.

My family and I have been residents of Victoria for the last 14 years, and I enjoy reading your paper to get a glimpse of Victoria's history as well as to stay up to date on current events.

Hi, Sue. Could you provide me the past 12 issues of the Gazette from 2015, Victoria's Centennial Year? I would like to put them in the Time Capsule, to be opened on December 14th, 2065. Thank you. Also, do you by chance have a digital copy of the group photo that you took and put in the paper after the demolition of the old City Hall this past summer?

To the Editor:

Thanks to your prayers and those of many others, I'll reach a milestone in longevity on December 13th ... 100 years! I'm finding it hard to believe, myself. Friends have been asking, "What is your secret?" and I must admit that I do not know, except that with the grace of God I find it healthful to exercise regularly, walk about ten minutes daily, and eat sparingly.

During these 100 years, I have been a Franciscan 79 years, a priest 72 years, and have had the good health to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass more than 25,000 times. God be praised. It is a blessing granted to but few, and I will never be able to thank Him enough.

Please and blessings on you, and do keep me in your prayers, as I do for you, living out the dwindling days of my life here on planet earth. Hope to see you again before I pass on. Meantime, I continue the First Friday Masses for the Orsen clan.

Hi, Sue. I am not a computer person so I am writing and asking if it is still possible to purchase the book by Jesse Coghill, Voices are Calling. My son Father Anthony enjoys Prints of a Priest, but I also think he'd get a few chuckles over Father Elstan's brother Jesse's book as well. Please let me know if possible the cost if it is still in print. God loves you.
