The Victoria Gazette

It’s emerald green in the heart of spring, and it’s Emerald Crest in the heart of Victoria.  Nestled among residential neighborhoods on Bavaria Road, Emerald Crest is a home, too.  And within its walls is also a family.  This has been apparent since 2005, when the gem first began to shine in Victoria.  The Grand Opening was held in the fall of that year.

Emerald Crest of Victoria is a single level home where people with memory loss live in a family setting that includes several amenities of home and family.  For example, the kitchen, living room, dining room, and fireplaces are not what you’d call “institutional.”  Also, the people who work at Emerald Crest are not what you’d call “institutional.”  It is orderly and organized, but it operates personally and with heart.

Emerald Crest is further defined as Intelligent Memory Care by Augustana Care.  In addition to Victoria, Emerald Crest has locations in Burnsville, Minnetonka, and Shakopee.  The focus is on residents’ abilities rather than disabilities.  One of their brochures states that Emerald Crest is “a refreshing alternative to nursing homes or institutional-style settings.”

The literature on Emerald Crest is attractive, inviting, and informative, as is the Emerald Crest website.  The lovely home setting of Emerald Crest also tells a warm and inviting story.  But the heart of the matter might best be found in the people who work there.
