Letters Continued

To the Editor:

Finally I think we found the fishhook.  It kind of jumped out at me in the Cornerstone ad around the hand of the baseball player.  It said, “Let us take a swing,” and so I did!

As always we enjoyed all the pictures in the Gazette.  Dave didn’t even see himself in one of your photos, watching the concert in the park.  One doesn’t expect to see himself or herself in the paper very often.  Thanks for all the news and keeping us updated.  God bless.

To the Editor:

Hard to believe summer’s ending already!  Baseball still goes on for a while yet, as well as fishing at the cabins.  Those diehard fishing folks have to make up their minds, fish or baseball.  Read the Gazette, go to McDonald’s drive-thru, get fish sammiches, watch the game.  At least no fish odor cooking fish in the kitchen that way.  I like the Mickey D. fish sammiches, but no tartar sauce or cheese for me.  Save the cheese for burgers.  Fish au gratin?  Ugh.

It’s hard to believe nowadays that donations are asked for school supplies.  When we were kids we had to make use of leftover school supplies before we got to use the new stuff.  Leftover pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, glue, loose leaf paper, bookbag.  If it’s still usable, use it up  Plus we’d get pens and pencils at the Carver County Fair so we got extras on that.

I still have a duffel bag I made in high school in 11th grade.  1982.  27 years old.  Looks like new.  I still have my high school ring, graduation cap and tassel, yearbooks, and diploma.  1983.  28 years ago.  I’m getting old!  Where’s the gray hair and crow’s feet?  Not here yet.

         As ever,

         Kay Meuwissen

To the Editor:

I am writing with an idea for an upcoming issue of the Gazette.  I’m currently working as a Public Relations intern for a new local company, Organic Disposal LLC, that is on the cutting edge of recycling services.  Organic Disposal recyles organic waste like frozen food boxes, meat, bone, vegetables, fruit, and all other food waste and yard waste.

We are working in conjunction with Carver County Environmental Services and the MN Landscape Arboretum at their compost site.  There is a definite Victoria angle on this story!  Our first customer was Fresh Seasons Market in downtown Victoria.

Victoria residents were among the most represented residents at our Carver County Fair Booth this year and we provided organic recycling services for free at Victoria’s Volksfest this year.

Please let me know if this is something that you’d like more information about.  We would love to work with the Victoria Gazette.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you so much for adding the art work to our ad for the Lake Auburn Ice Cream Social.  It looked fabulous!

To the Editor:

Thank you so much for including Dad’s photo and 70th Birthday Wishes in the August issue of the Gazette.  He was delighted and has received so many birthday greetings, the first of which was yours!  He was so surprised that you knew that he was celebrating his 70th birthday on August 16th.  Enclosed is the amount due for the ad space.  Sue, thanks again for helping us celebrate and honor my dad.  Blessings.
