In organizing and cleaning out a closet recently, I came across a pillow I had made years ago, with the pillow-top being a hooked-rug type thing.  Don’t know what else to call it, but at one time I was very hooked on hooking rugs. I made a large hooked rug wall-hanging for over the fireplace, for example.  It was a snow scene consisting mainly of white yarn for snow covered trees with a beautiful orange setting sun in the distance that matched my orange shag carpet.  Yikes!

My kids made pillows from hooked rug kits that I had purchased for them, and our metal rug hooks each had a blue handle.  I thought we were making things that would last forever in our home and hearth.  Alas, they were put away, only to bring back a few memories when once again discovered.  Interesting, isn’t it, how we get hooked on some things for a while and then we get unhooked.

When I was playing in the minnow bucket yesterday, I hooked Angela Rosenberg of Mound and then carefully released her so she could receive the ten-dollar prize from this monthly drawing.  Angela found the hook hidden just where I stuck it, around the batting arm of the athlete in the Cornerstone ad on page 28 of the August issue of the Gazette.

I hid another hook in this issue of the Gazette (Good luck, Lawrence)!  If you find it, drop a line to Sue@VictoriaGazete.com or P.O. Box 387 telling of its location and sinker in the mail.  Then you can swim around in the minnow bucket until the next drawing for ten dollars.  Takes a lot longer to clean out a closet than it does to hide the fishhook.
