GAZETTE

Letters Continued

To the Editor:

Just got the Gazette in the mail today and I happened by chance to see the fishhook on page 28 in the Cornerstone Insurance Agency ad.  As a former softball player, I guess the ballplayer caught my eye.  I’ve never seen the fishhook before.  ‘Course I never looked for it either.  Guess this was just by chance.

         Great Gazette news once again.

To the Editor:

Hey, Sue.  I enjoy the vocabulary blurb in your paper.  The word scrof-u-lous was in a book I recently read.  The author used it writing about her dog thumping his tail.  My Webster’s dictionary defines it as 1) having a diseased appearance, 2) morally contaminated.  I don’t know how this relates to the dog’s thumping tail, and I don’t expect I’ll ever use it in my vocabulary, but it’s a neat word.

I found the fishhook for the very first time and I wasn’t even looking for it.  It just jumped out at me on page 28 on the bat.

Thanks for all the work it must take to get that paper out every month.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  Our son was featured in the August 2009 Gazette and we were wondering if we could get four more copies.  We would be happy to pay for them.  Please let me know where I can send the check and for how much and to whom.  Thanks.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  You can pick up extra Gazettes at Fresh Seasons Market.

To the Editor:

The baseball player in the Cornerstone ad of the August Gazette is a tad mixed up.  He thinks he can “hook” a big one with a baseball bat.  So that is how they catch the big ones at the Stieger Lake Ice Fishing Contest!  Blessings to you and yours.

To the Editor:

I’ve only lived in Minnesota one year.  I enjoy reading all the little tidbits in the Gazette about our community.  Thank you!  I found the fishhook on page 34 around the fist of the baseball player in the Cornerstone Insurance ad.

To the Editor:

For years we have been wanting particular businesses established in our Victoria community.  As we continue to grow, we finally have a grocery store!  Fresh Seasons Market is a great addition to Victoria and the store has gone out of their way to welcome us as customers.

Fresh Seasons provides what I would call Byerly’s products at Cub prices.  It is imperative for all of us to support local businesses to keep them alive and in our community.  Fresh Seasons Market is a huge convenience for many people.  If you have not had the opportunity to visit our wonderful grocery store, please do yourself a favor and stop by.  We need to support local businesses and especially our new grocery store.

To the Editor:

I have to tell someone about the wonderful “curbside” service I got at Fresh Seasons Market ...

I had my grandson in the back seat and a storm bank was coming in from the west.  I called Fresh Seasons and asked if they could bring me a loaf of their great cracked wheat bread and pound of turkey meat while I waited in my car at their front entrance.  Mike the manager gladly accommodated my strange request and with a smile!  I won’t make a habit of this, but it sure is nice to know we have such friendly personalized service in our sweet Victoria.

Thank you, Fresh Seasons, for being here.  My husband won’t let me shop anywhere else.
