To the Editor:

We are quickly approaching an election in Victoria that will bring us a change in Mayor.  As a two and a half-year resident in the community, I want to officially put my support in to Tom O'Connor to take over the reins from Mayor Thun.  I have had the privilege of getting to know Tom over the last several months since being appointed to the Park and Recreation Committee last April.

Tom and his experience will be able to lead Victoria successfully over the next four years.  Tom has spent the last three and a half years serving on the City Council which gives him invaluable insight into the city's current position and a solid record of accomplishment.

Tom also brings leadership skills from his naval service and business career that will allow him to ensure issues facing our community will be confronted head on.

Finally, Tom has ties to this community that will ensure he is looking to make this a great place to live.  He has lived in Victoria for 14 years with his wife Cathi to whom he has been married for 45 years.

Please support Tom O'Connor on November 6th to ensure Victoria's success over the next several years.

Nice job with your online Hwy 5 photos.  What a nice record.

To the Editor:

I'd like to congratulate Mike Poppitz and his Vics team for winning this year's Class B State Baseball tournament held in St. Cloud.  They had a fantastic season and won the tournament over a very strong field that perennially make up the Class B tourney.  It seemed that they took their game to a whole new level once they got to the post-season and won the hard way by having to come through the losers bracket which is terribly difficult to accomplish.

I admire Mike's perseverance.  He started coaching the Vics oh so many years ago, back when I played.  He had some tough years but he hung in there and now his team climbed the highest rung and their home field is an absolute jewel.  Very happy for Mike.  I doubt there would be a Vics team if not for his efforts.

I'd also like to tip my hat to the Chaska Cubs for their fine season.  They were right there at the end and, with a break or two, could have gone even further.  Both are very fine teams who represented our area well.  Thanks.

To the Editor:

I am writing in support of Tom O'Connor for mayor of Victoria.  Tom has been on the Victoria City Council for the past four years, and he is always informed on the issues and makes thoughtful decisions based on what is fair and best for the community.  He has a strong background which is important for being a good steward of taxpayers' dollars.

I think to be an effective mayor the candidate should have prior city council experience and experience in finance.  Tom has both of these attributes and I think he would be an excellent mayor.  I encourage you to vote for Tom on November  6th.

To the Editor:

On behalf of the family of Viola Jeurissen, we would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for all of the prayers, donations, food, flowers, plants, cards, and thoughts during this sad time for our family.  A special thanks to the staff at Auburn Courts and the Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice home for their excellent care during Viola's illness.

Viola was a mother of three, a grandmother of six, and a great grandmother of eight with one on the way.  She was a quiet and humble person who was always there for her family.

Viola will always be remembered by those of us who knew her and loved her.  We will forever miss her smile, her laugh, and her love, but we take consolation in many wonderful memories.  Viola was a role model and a friend, and her guidance and love will carry us through for the rest of our lives.
