Columbus Day. Monday, October 8th. Celebrated annually on the second Monday of October. Recognizes the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the America's in 1492 when he sailed the ocean blue.

Candidate Forum at City Hall. Tuesday, October 9th, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Meet candidates for Victoria City Council. Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Eastern Carver County.

Property Taxes Due. Monday, October 15th. Second half of property taxes collected by Carver County on behalf of Carver County, School District 112, and the City of Victoria.

Fall Composting. Saturday, October 13th, and Saturday, October 20th, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Victoria Public Works Site on Stieger Lake Lane.

Gazette Deadline. Monday, October 22nd. Email Sue@VictoriaGazette.com to be included in the November issue.

Halloween Party. Saturday, October 27th, from 3 to 5 p.m. in downtown Victoria. Games, guests, tricks, treats, food, fun.

Fire Department Open House. Saturday, October 6th, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Victoria Fire Station.

City Council Meetings. Monday, October 15th, and Monday, October 29th. Usually held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Victoria City Council Chamber of Rose Street.

Election Day. Tuesday, November 6th. It's coming up fast. Three Victoria precincts. Polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
