Scarecrows on Parade is a juried exhibit of original, one of a kind creations of scarecrows and other garden folk to capture the wonderful flavor of the harvest season in Minnesota.  The exhibit is on display through Sunday, November 6th, at the MN Landscape Arboretum.

Happy 40th.  Bob and Doris Schmieg of Victoria were married on September 11th, 1971, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shakopee.

Visiting Victoria Day. It was fun running into old friends at the Victoria Recreation Center on Saturday, September 24th, including Rod and Ramona Groff of Waconia (left) and Debby and Daryl Wrolson of Victoria.  Rod was the manager of the Victoria Lumber Company for many years, and Ramona was a bookkeeper there.  Both couples were active members of the former Victoria Chamber of Commerce and volunteered many hours for the annual Touch of Bavaria event and the various Business Expos -- as were Dave and Marlene Speltz who were also at Victoria Day but not in this photograph:)   ~S.O.

Thanks, Fresh Seasons. On behalf of the Chanhassen Dance Team Fundraising Committee, I would like to thank Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria for once again sponsoring a great community event, which was the Chanhassen Dance Team Car Wash on Saturday, September 10th.  The event allowed the dancers to wash cars and earn funds for the Fall Sport of Dance Team.  Fresh Seasons was wonderful to work with and we appreciate what they do for our community.  Thank you, Fresh Seasons.

The St. Victoria Choir's Tenth Annual Golf Tournament was played Saturday, August 27th, at Deer Run in Victoria.  This year Cowboy Tom put together five teams to play in the tournament.  We had a great time, wonderful weather, and lots of laughs.  No one could ask for more.  Everyone did a great job.  We had three new players this year.  Hope they will come back next year.  Maybe they will even join choir, which started September 8th.  I'm attaching a picture of the winning team, not without controversy though.  As you can see they had five players (the rest of us had four), and they putted with the flag in (typically a two-stroke penalty).

Deeper Connections.  Four years ago, Holy Family students and teachers traveled to Seville, Spain.  They stayed with host families during Holy Week.  This year, from September 16th to 25th, twenty students and three teachers from Seville came to Minnesota and were hosted by Holy Family students and their families.  The travelers came from the Colegio Calasancio, a Catholic school founded by the Piarist Fathers, who have institutions all over the world.  Our own Mr. Oconitrillo attended these schools in Costa Rica, making this an even deeper connections.

Our guests spent their two weeks practicing their English and enjoying American culture.  Holy Family teachers designed special lessons for them so they could try as many new experiences as possible.  In return, our guests visited Spanish classes and enriched lessons.  Their most spectacular addition to our first weeks of school was a Flamenco presentation performed at a soccer game.
