Easter Bunny Made Rounds.  Little 8-month old Alyza Lubs got her first visit with the Easter Bunny.  Her parents are Ashley and Jason.  Photo by Victoria Lion Kurt Zuppke.

Boy Catches a Washington.  While vacationing in Fort Pierce, Florida, we decided to go fishing with the fleet of "Fort Pierce Lady."  It was the afternoon of Monday, April 2nd.  We all had a good time but it got better when we drove 13 miles out and my little one, Bradley, age 7, caught a beautiful Sea Bass with a $1 dollar bill in his mouth.  It was incredible.  Never seen or heard of something like this before.  Everyone was excited and happy.  We would love to share this incredible story with everyone.

Journey for Service. Left to right, Lion Jack Webster of Waterville, MN (Perennial Chairman of The Journey for Service and Past 5M2 District Governor), Lion Sue Bowman of Geneva, MN (Current District Governor of 5M2) and Lion Jerry Schmieg of Victoria (Charter member of the Victoria Lions and Past District Governor of 5M2).

Lion Jerry is handing this year's check over to the Lions Jack and Sue.  The handoff took place on Thursday, April 12th, in Victoria.

In 1990, Lion Jack was appointed to this fundraiser formally known as Journey for Sight.  In 2002, Lions International no longer recognized the Journey for Sight project but a cabinet meeting that year decided to continue the project and rename it Journey for Service.  Monies collected from Lions, Lioness and Leo clubs are donated to approve health-related projects instead.  To date, almost a quarter of a million dollars have been raised by the over 60 Lions Clubs in District 5M2.  When you join Lions, you help serve the community.  Thank you, Lions.

Fifty Pounds of Caps.  Girl Scout Troop 15386 collected 50 pounds of bottle caps during a recent campaign to educate friends and family about recycling plastics.  While earning an Environment Badge, the girls learned that most screw-on bottle caps, commonly found on water and soda bottles, are not accepted by local recycle haulers.  To educate friends and family, they distributed collection jars and asked them to collect their caps for four months.  They recycled the caps at an Aveda Salon, who turns them into packaging for new Aveda products.  From left to right, Erin Simon of Victoria, Kate Robbins of Victoria, Sydney Wellner of Victoria, Alyssa Young, and Annelies Vandeputte of Victoria.
