Our Snow Bunny.  Thank you for all the work you do providing our community with an outstanding paper.  Just received the latest edition (April 2008) and laughed at all the snow pictures.  I thought you would enjoying seeing what our family used the March 21-23 weekend snow for, before it melted!  It was a great welcoming for Easter.  Thanks again.

Riders on a Storm.  On the left is our Lions’ current 5M2 District Governor Mary Spille.  On the right is Waterville, MN, Lion Jack Webster about to collect a $500 check from Victoria’s own Past District Governor Lion Wayne Neubarth of Victoria.

On Thursday, April 10th, at 2:50 p.m. sharp, they arrived with our Spring Storm to collect their annual check for Journey for Service.  This is Jack’s 18th year traveling hundreds of miles across southern Minnesota visiting 63 clubs in our 5M2 District.  Approximately $15,000 is raised for the Leader Dog Program, the Diabetes Foundation, and a host of other humanitarian organizations.  Remember those pancakes and sausages you ate at our Lions Breakfast last month here in Victoria?  This is why we want people to keep attending these function.  They help us to help others.  Lions motto:  We serve.

Consolation Champions. Excelsior-based Our Savior Lutheran School’s 7th and 8th Grade Girls’ Basketball Team finished their season as Consolation Champions at the 62nd Annual National Lutheran School Tournament at Valparaiso, Indiana, held March 28th-30th.  The Our Savior Eagles competed with 32 Lutheran schools from across the United States.  As the 2008 MN State Runners Up from the tournament held at Concordia University in St. Paul, MN, the Lady Eagles proved their talents at Nationals with an impressive 5-1 record against other championship teams from Illinois, Wisconsin, Nebraska, California, Indiana, and Ohio.  The Our Savior Eagles played aggressively as a team throughout the tournament against very competitive schools, many of which have enrollment figures four to five times larger than the Excelsior K-8 school.  Our Savior was led by Miriam Swanson, who was named to the 2008 All Tournament Team.  Congratulations to Our Savior Eagles Basketball Team! Front (l-r):  Abby Rolf of Victoria, Marisa Krause of Victoria, Christine Brown, Chloe Payne of Victoria, Harlee Skaja of Victoria.  Standing:  Coach Joe Aurich, Miriam Swanson, Rachel Coatta, Jaimie Rix, Sarah Swanson, and Coach Jay Coatta.
