To the Editor:

The obituary page in in the Gazette was particularly disheartening in the February edition.  The individuals on the page truly reflected some of Victoria's finest contributors to the business, church, and social aspects of our fair city.  "All are gone, the old familiar faces." --Charles Lam.

As you reflect in your February editorial on "small town charm," the key will be to have residents, like those departed, step up and continue the legacy.  It's the people, not the place.

         Tim Amundsen, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

Good afternoon, Sue.  I just got done reading the headline story from your February issue of the Gazette.  I wanted to reach out to you as my firm is contracted by The API, The American Petroleum Institute.  My partner and I would be happy to lend our expertise, from a historical and present day standpoint, to help refine some of the points I think you might be driving at regarding the oil industry.

I am traveling over the next week but let me know if you'd like to sit down and have a cup of coffee at School of the Wise in Victoria.  We'll be happy to find a time that works for everyone.  In the interest of transparency, I also serve on the Planning Commission for Victoria.

To the Editor:

Thank you for the update on the "oil country" situation.  It's fun to read about your children.  I wish them very well in their car wash endeavor.  Busy family!  I enjoy looking for the fishhook in each edition of your paper when time permits.  I found it in the February 2016 edition on page 35 in the "I'm Alive" article.  Interesting looking ice skate!  Thanks for the paper.  Take care.  Have a nice Valentine's Day.

         Dianne Prieditis, Chanhassen, Minnesota

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  How well I remember the ecumenical services at the Lake Auburn Church when I was organist.  The 1986 choir photo in the February issue had a few people not with us any longer.  The photo also showed the choir loft on the side which was changed in the 1980's renovation.  Congratulations to you for many years of faithful service at the keyboard at St. Victoria.  Found the fishhook on the hockey player's boot.  Was wondering if he was charged with "hooking."

         ReNaye Miller, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

I really enjoy the people who write each month in the Gazette, especially Cowboy Tom Stumpf, Up North Cabin Guy Chuck Freiberg, and Former Resident of Victoria Mike Wartman.  Found the fishhook on page 35 in the February paper, around the leg of the ice skater.

         Barb Johnson, Sacred Heart, Minnesota

To the Editor:

The recent photo spread on the Victoria Library in the January issue of the Gazette (Christmas in Victoria) was great.  Thanks for all you do.

Kathy Perschmann, Carver County Library System

To the Editor:

Hi, Grandma.  I found the fishhook on page 35 in the February paper on the hockey player's right foot.  On my last Social Studies test I got 100% right and none wrong.  I got to go flying in an airplane here with Steve Jensen.  I got to fly the airplane myself.  I work with Steve Jensen at his farm and he pays me in flight time.

         Gunnar Norgaard, Tioga, North Dakota

To the Editor:

Thank you for the February article that you did on my family.  It was a big surprise to my husband Lee.   Now my problem is that the two grandchildren who don't live in Victoria would like a copy.  Since Lee will not give up his, is there a location in Victoria where I could pick up extras?  Thanks again for making my family famous.  Have a great day.

         Pat Walquist, Victoria, Minnesota
