To the Editor Received this note from Kristina Forrer that they are "fostering a little boy puppy, an 11-week old black and German Shepherd mix but looks like a black lab. He is very gentle and is doing well with potty training. He and his sister were found under a porch in December in the minus 40 degree weather. Their mom and siblings died but they lived. Let me know if you know anyone who would the little guy." Tom Stumpf wrote an article in the Gazette regarding his dog Hank that died recently. Perhaps you could reach him and share the news regarding the darling puppy lab, to see if the dog could find a home. Janie Jasin Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor I really enjoyed reading "The Green Goddess" in your February 2014 edition. I am old enough to have experienced everything described in that clever article. Puts a great perspective on the issue of older generations being called wasteful because we didn't have the Green Thing back then. The column left out not having air conditioning in our house and car during hot and humid Minnesota summers so we hung out in our cool damp basements or ran through the sprinkler to cool off. To the Editor Hi, Sue. We have been watching our hometown paper for Cam Heaney's Dean's List information to show up from the University of Minnesota as they said it would. If you were not sent this information, could you call the University News Service or email them? Thanks so much. Cheryl Heaney Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor Hi, Sue. I am in Hong Kong. We come home to Victoria the 26th of February. I would love to send you a picture of the Lego League Team because we won First Place on our presentation at State Competition. It was very exciting. Hopefully I can send you a picture of the Island View remodel and tell everyone that we are opening on Friday, March 7th! The weather in Hong Kong is pretty cold. The sun finally came out today, Wednesday, February 19th. Kim Heenie Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor Hi, Sue. What a delightful surprise I had when I pulled out the Victoria Gazette from the mailbox. What a day brightener to open the paper and read a whole page dedicated to the Lions. The pictures are wonderful also. I was touched that you sent the edition to me. It is very special and I will cherish this article for a long time. Lion Kevin and I could not have had a nicer time with the Victoria Lions and their guests. I looked through the whole Gazette and all I can say is, "Wow!" You publish a first rate community newspaper. Thank you for being a supporter and fan of the Victoria Lions and highlighting their activities. Thanks also for all the positive and good news you include. It was a pleasure meeting you that evening, Sue. Again, thank you for making my day special with your thoughtfulness.
