To the Editor:

As you know, Highway 5 between East Scandia Road and Lakes Parkway is closed since June 8th.  Crews continue to reconstruct the road, add turn lanes at the new Lake Bridge Lane access, Laketown Road, and Parley Lake Road, and improve drainage in the area.

Please continue to follow the signed local detour using County Road 11, Hwy 7, and County Road 92, or use alternate routes in order to bypass the closure.  Once this project is complete in early September, you will be able to enjoy a smoother safer road with more turn lanes and wider shoulders.

To the Editor:

Having spent hours hunting for the fishhook in the June 2015 issue of the Gazette, I simply cannot find it.  Feeling you forgot to insert it.  This is cruel and painful.

To the Editor:

You have always done a great job with stories on the Grimm Farm in Victoria, so I am hoping you will be able to again be part of this special event, the Grimm Farm Historic Site Exhibits Grand Opening on June 13th.  A brief ribbon cutting ceremony will be followed by light refreshments.

On behalf of Three Rivers Park District and the Museology exhibit design team, you are cordially invited to the Grand Opening celebration.

Funded primarily through a generous Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grant from the Minnesota Historical Society, the new exhibits highlight the story of Wendelin Grimm's development of North america's first winter-hearty alfalfa, which would revolutionize the Upper Midwest's dairy industry.

The exhibits also highlight the Grimm family's immigrant journey from German to Carver County in 1857, while inviting visitors to imagine what life was like on a frontier farm.

To the Editor:

Another wrinkle of crow's feet added to the corner of my brown eyes!  Guess who's an antique of 50 years on July 24th?  Yep, yours truly, readers of the Gazette.  I don't know if any of my high school classmates from Victoria hit 50 yet -- Brian Aretz, Roxanne Notermann Sackett, Jill Moore Kunze, Al Felmlee, Chuck Wartman (Jill's cousin), Jim Leuthner, Brenda Diethelm, Connie Schmieg Jeurissen (my cousin), or Carol Kelzer, Carol Laurent, Michelle Kaufhold.

I haven't seen Jill or Chuck since the 10-year reunion in 1993.  I think Chuck was a principal of a Chicago school.  Jill taught in an elementary school in Waconia, I think.  The others I haven't seen since graduation in 1983.

It's weird turning 50 and no gray hair and, nope, I've never dyed it either.  My mom never colored her hair either.  She only had spotty grays around the ears.  Mom's mom was white-haired in her 40's.  Grandma Meuwissen didn't have much gray until she was in her late 80's.  It's genetic and hormones determine your hair type. I was blondish brown when I was two but it changed.  I've seen a photo of me 2 years old with a princess type rotary phone, a common thing 48 years ago.

I looked six times through the June Gazette and never found the fishhook.

To the Editor:

Thanks you for the lovely coverage in June.  I usually work as a Librarian at the reference desk in Chanhassen, but recently I have worked a few days at the Victoria Library, and I love it.  It is very close to my home in the northern part of Chaska, too.
