Victoria’s Corner Bar.  Nightly Specials and Menus.  952-443-9944

by Sue Orsen

It happened in 2013 and it bears repeating in this Centennial Year:  Victoria is a destination.  More than anything else, the four restaurant establishments in downtown Victoria and their summer sidewalk dining have made it a destination.  The variety of menus and venues within a compact, two-block strolling area draws hundreds of residents and their families and friends, as well as many people from neighboring communities.

Classic Car and Concert Nights are especially popular in downtown Victoria, and if we didn't have Floyd's, School of the Wise, the Victoria House, and Vic's Bar and Grill, I suspect the special events themselves would not be as big a draw.  Enki Brewery and the Ice Cream Social are frosting on the cake, or frost on the brew, as the case may be, and so is the new Victoria's Market and their deli cafe and salad bar in the immediate vicinity.  People like to eat and drink together.  We've also got a Dairy Queen and Subway Shop on the periphery.

A barber shop, dry cleaners, hair salon, floral and gift shop, post office, fitness center, and kids' stops contribute to a thriving business district, plus a bottle shop and cigar humidor, not to mention the offices of other enterprises.  Nearby is a sporting goods store, the hometown bank, a home decor center, car dealership, gas stations, and a couple convenience stores.  But, as such, they don't make Victoria the destination it has come to be around dinner time on Classic Car and Concert Nights.  The proof is in the pudding and in these pictures that I snapped on June 10th and 24th, two delicious evenings in downtown Victoria, with more on the way in this Centennial Summer.
