Text Box: Letters Continued

To the Editor:

Hi, Mom.  Thank you for such a fun visit when we were home in May.  I haven't giggled that much in years.  You mentioned in your online album about Gunnar's purple mouth at the Dairy Queen.  And I'm giggling even now as I remember what happened after Dad got a flat tire on his bike.  You said, "Oh, well, we can leave it here at the DQ and pick it up later.  It's just a bike."  And I squeaked out in laughter, "But we have to leave Dad here, too!"  We laughed so hard we couldn't catch our breath.  All's well that ends well.  I was happy to stay at the DQ with Dad's bike until you picked me up.  And, since you've asked, that's when I doodled on the rocks.  Then we laughed again when we realized Addie still hadn't figured out why we couldn't have just left the bike alone at the DQ.  She must take after her Grandma Sue.

Addie and Gunnar are looking for the fishhook now, each in their "own" Gazettes.  Addie asked if it will be on the same page in Gunnar's Gazette as it is in hers.

         Love you forever,

         Jenny

To the Editor:

Hi, Mom.  The paper looks good online, as usual.

To the Editor:

Mike Wartman had his quota on jello as any other Minnesotan.  I've seen ghastly concoctions for jello -- cottage cheese with lime or orange, or lime with shredded carrots and green peppers and other veggies and a plop of mayonnaise or Miracle Whip.

My mother had about 80 boxes of jello in the kitchen cupboard, all petrified hard as a rock.  Some of the jello was from the 1960's with the General Foods logo GF with a square on the side of the box yet.  She'd buy it five for a dollar, "Ach, yeah!"

I like the jello cake -- a white cake baked and cooled, then mix the jello and before it congeals, poke holes in the cake with a fork and add Cool Whip on top.  No mayonnaise or Miracle Whip or veggies!  I've seen jello concoctions at potlucks with the texture of aloe vera gel, goopy soupy, and when you try to spoon it out it spills into the chow mein hotdish.  I have Mom's Joys of Jello cookbook and I laugh at the preposterous  recipes.  Guess who's 47 on July 24th.

To the Editor:

I left a voice mail but this is probably more convenient for you.  I would like to get about four issues of the June paper to send to the Oklahoma cousins that I took Liz Diethelm to visit about five or six years ago.  Several of them will be interested to know of her passing.  The first two cousins of Liz have also passed, and now it is us second cousins to continue on.  Thanks.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  We just moved to town.  How do I get the Gazette?

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  In your January issue you asked about recycling Christmas cards.  For years I have been sending my cards to St. Jude's Ranch for Children, P.O. Box 60100, Boulder City, Nevada 89006-0100.  So have fun recycling.

To the Editor:

I love the June issue of the Gazette!  So many flags!  Love it!  Love it!  Love it!  How very special of you.  And thank you, again, for the May issue of the Gazette and "A Mother's Polka."  My mother in Poland was in tears.  I sent it to her.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

Thank you for pulling my name from your minnow bucket.  We enjoy your paper and I always enjoy looking for the fishhook.  Found it this time on page 21 in the ad for Victoria Volksfest.
