Groundhog Day. Monday, February 2nd. Predicting the arrival of spring, if it is cloudy when a groundhog emerges from his hole on this day, then spring will come early. If it is sunny, the groundhog will supposedly see its shadow and retreat back into its burrow and winter weather will continue for six more weeks.

City Hall Ribbon Cutting. Monday, February 9th, 5:30 at New City Hall on Stieger Lake Lane.

Valentine's Day. Saturday, February 14th. Began as a church remembrance associated with St. Valentine who was imprisoned for performing weddings for soldiers who were forbidden to marry and for ministering to Christians who were persecuted under the Roman empire.

Presidents' Day. Monday, February 16th. Honors both President George Washington and President Abraham Lincoln, as well as other U.S. presidents.

Ash Wednesday. Wednesday, February 18th. The first day of Lent marking the beginning of 40 days of prayer and fasting that recall when Jesus spent 40 days in the desert before beginning his public ministry.

Lions Pancake Breakfast. Sunday, March 1st, at Old Victoria City Hall from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

City Council Meetings. Monday, February 9th, and Monday, February 23rd. 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on Rose Street in downtown Victoria
