To the Editor:

Thank you for putting your November spotlight on Deer Run Golf Club and me for winning the PGA Professional of the Year Award.  Deer Run deserves the attention.  I don't mean me, I mean Deer Run.  Fred Plocher and Stan Hamerski put together a golf course community that has greatly affected Victoria for 30 years and will continue to do so for many more years.

Yet, Deer Run sort of flies under the radar in town.  I suppose it's a good thing that it's taken for granted.  It hasn't been a problem for the town.  But, as we all know, taking good things for granted is not healthy

Your paper, Sue, is so important because you bring to light what is going on in Victoria, and what is important to Victoria.  Because of our busy lives, it's easy to take for granted what we are so lucky to have.  Thank you for what you do.  I hope that I don't take you for granted.

Tom Abts, Deer Run Manager and Golf Pro, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  Wonderful newsy November issue of the Victoria Gazette!  Thank you.  Found the fishhook on the bundt cake on page 32.

To the Editor:

As you may know, City Manager Laurie Hokkanen and Community Development Director Ben Landhauser have submitted letters of resignation.  Both move to exciting new opportunities in the City of Plymouth.  What a huge loss to the City of Victoria.

During their roughly three years of service, both have made significant contributions to the residents of Victoria.  Both are totally competent professionals who loved Victoria, enjoyed considerable  success here, and relished the prospect of managing our continued growth.

It's no secret, however, that the contentious atmosphere at City Hall was and remains a problem.  Good capable people are always in demand.  Both Laurie and Ben found exciting options.  They will be deeply missed.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  I am going to be moving to Victoria with my family in December.  We are looking for in-home before and after school childcare for my kids.  A friendly lady at the school referred me to you.  Let me know if you have any suggestions.

To the Editor:

Enclosed is an article about our grandson Jackson, who just graduated from the Minneapolis Police Department Police Academy.  We are very proud of his accomplishments and hope to share it with neighbors and friends.  I thought it may be some noteworthy news about a local person receiving this award.  Thank you.

         Jerry Amrhein, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

Good afternoon, Sue.  It was another wonderful issue of the Gazette.  I greatly enjoyed the November paper.  Your stories and photos captured the joy and beauty of small-town fall perfectly!  I also liked the way you incorporated the fishhook into the picture of the delicious looking Sweet Potato Bundt Cake.  I can't wait to try out that recipe.  Best wishes

To the Editor:

I know a lot of people in Victoria are wondering about the Snap Fitness in Victoria.  My wife and I purchased the club in early September and are building out the new location in the Enki building and hope to open soon.  Do you have a place in your paper to provide this update?

         Jeff Dischinger/Snap Fitness, Victoria, Minnesota

To the Editor:

I just wanted to let you know that the City of Victoria is having a dedication of Randy's boulder and plaque on Saturday, December 9th, at 2:30 p.m. in the Bayfront Plaza.  New street sign for "Randy's Way" should also be up.  Mary Hershberger Thun is going to say a few words, along with others who wants to say something.  I hope you can join us.
