The Victoria

GAZETTE

To the Editor:

Greetings.  Love the picture of all the baby shoes in your March paper.  I have a box in my basement with a few pairs of shoes just like them.

To the Editor:

We didn't know Father Bernardine but heard about him forever.  He was better known than the Pope!  Well, maybe not.  After reading your feature story, "The Oldest Franciscan," we know him better.  Thank you.  Good job.  The fishhook is in the Birthright ad.

To the Editor:

Hello, Mrs. Editor.  We are missing your last edition.  We, across the Big Pond, miss your Victoria news.  Is someone of you sick?  Did you have a breakdown?

March is a spring month and we already enjoyed spring weather, but from next Sunday we'll have winter weather again, snow and frost.  My poor yard.  Brrr.  It's minus three degrees Celsius.

And how is Allan?  Still busy as always?  Greetings to you all.

         Theofiel Keymis

To the Editor:

Thank you and Carol Williams for information related to "The Red Barn at the MN Arboretum is a Williams Barn!" in the March issue of the Gazette.  All who are interested in the history of the area should read, "A Frontier Family in Minnesota; Letters of Theodore and Sophie Bost 1851-1920" by Ralph H. Bowen, editor and translator.

Enclosed is a check for my Victoria Gazette subscription.  I hope you will be inundated with them because of your excellent coverage of all that is related to our beautiful surroundings.

To the Editor:

Wow!  What a neat spread in the last issue of the Gazette.  I had told Irma (Smith) that she would be the queen, but it came as a big surprise to me to win the election to be king, as I had been here such a short time.  The Pleasant Valley 4H Club did a great job with hosting the party, including a delicious lunch and a photo set-up so that all could have photos taken.

Harriet and I consider ourselves so very lucky to have chosen Westview Acres as our place to live, and every day we thank God to have found such a place.  The staff is outstanding and many things are offered to do.  It does not mean that we have to participate in everything, but we can if we so desire.  We are looking forward to seeing you for lunch tomorrow.

To the Editor:

It is very ironic that I received an email from you today (through Jamie, about your amaryllis)!  Chris Ver Pleog and Dale Tranter just left our condo this morning, saying we should say hi to you and Al the next time we see you in Victoria.  They are the new in-laws of Pat's nephew Aaron Nelson.  They were down here in Florida for a wedding and spent a couple nights with us.  What a small world!  See you soon.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  Just wanted you to know how much a Kansas visitor liked your newspaper.  It is truly well written and very informative.  Our daughter and her family have lived in Victoria since 2002, and I remember our daughter saying how happy she was to be living "in the country."  Well, Victoria has sure changed in the last 13 years, but it still has that small town friendly feel.  By the way, I found the fishhook on page 32.

To the Editor:

Thanks for continuing to publish the Gazette.  I look forward to reading it and continuing to learn more about the community.  See you at choir.  Great organ music last weekend.
