Dedicated to the sunshine of truth,

the moonshine of meeting deadlines,

and the starshine of Victoria.

To the Editor:

Minnesota Oncology opened its doors to its 11th Minnesota clinic on August 4th.  The Chaska clinic will focus on providing world class treatment for cancer and blood disease with access to a team of specialists to provide counseling, social work, nutrition therapy, and genetic counseling.

The oncology and hematology clinic is located in the Lakeview Professional Building at the southwest corner of Hwy 41 and Pioneer Trail.

Minnesota Oncology is a specialized medical group dedicated solely to the diagnosis and treatment of various cancers as well as many blood disorders.  The Chaska clinic staff will be led by three board-certified physicians and a certified nurse practitioner.

The group is part of multi-specialty practice Lakeview Clinic's new medical office building in Chaska.  Lakeview Clinic will provide family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, complete x-ray facilities, clinic laboratory, general surgery, and ophthalmology/optometry.

You do a great job with the Gazette.  Keep it up.  The fishhook is on the shoe on page 23 in the August paper.  Best wishes.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  I have lived in Victoria forever -- first as a kid on Lake Zumbra and now off of Hwy 5 and Park Drive.

On Saturday (August 16th), I will be playing in the community band (Minnesota Valley Community Band) at the Victoria Volksfest.  There is one piece we do toward the end called "Armed Forces Salute" where we ask anyone who has served to stand when they hear their branch's piece being played.  I always tear up during this piece because I do appreciate what these people have done to serve/protect our country.  This year takes on added significance because my son leaves the very next day for Marine boot camp in San Diego.

I am just wondering if you would try to capture something from that piece on camera -- maybe pictures of some of the old guys as they stand up during the Salute.  I think it could be special.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  I was just looking at the online edition of the Gazette.  May we change our ad there to the attached?

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  I suggested a woman in the nearby neighborhood, Laketown, forward her children's summer daytime endeavors to you.  The four kids -- Thomas, Michael, Katie, Anna -- spent many a day selling lemonade at their stand at the start of Hole 14 at the Deer Run Golf Course.  I contributed on my walks and watched them during all kinds of weather from my windows.

I encouraged their mom to submit some pictures and information to you, when another neighbor called me looking for Deer Run addresses.  She explained that the kids' mom, Lauri Henry, was making sure that the children wrote thank you notes to all the donors who made contributions to their efforts to raise money for Miracles for Mitch.

So not only are these kids hard workers (they also went door to door for donations and pledges), they are also well mannered.  They raised $6,031 for Miracles for Mitch and won an award as the ninth-place group fundraiser.

Their oldest son, Thomas, was inspired by the passing of a friend from cancer, but the sparkplug of the group was Michael, according to their mom, "because that's the kind of person he is."

Thank you to the Deer Run Golf Course for allowing an old fashioned charity to be on their grounds.  Thank you to Thomas, Michael, Katie, and Anna, for working so hard to demonstrate such inspiring compassion to all of us.
