Three New Businesses in Victoria by Sue Orsen. “The Social, an ice cream shop, is located in the new Lakeside Building.  Churchills Quality Cigars and Gifts is located at Victoria’s downtown intersection.  Victoria Auto Sales is located in the cinnamon colored building.”

Picking the Mayor’s Mind by Sue Orsen. Replied Mayor Tom O’Connor, “The action [lawsuit] brought by 7 residents — namely Thomas Funk, Carolyn Funk, Marvin Gregory, Jerry Osmonson, Jane Piney, Mark Bjorlin, and Karen Bjornlin — is costly for Minnesota and Victoria taxpayers.”

Minneapolis Farmer’s Market by Sue Orsen. “I was surprised at the size of the Market and variety of items for sale, from food and flowers to fragrances and lotions, from clothing and jewelry to pottery and garden décor.”

The River City Singers by Sue Orsen. “They performed in the Chaska High School Auditorium under the direction of Caroline Swanson and Maria Vejdani.”

Choral Music Hits High Note by Barb Hone, Arts Consortium of Carver County. “The Carver Chorale is the new vocal organization  in town.”

Mount Olivet Motorheads Show by Deb Kind, Mount Olivet Lutheran Church-West Campus. “The 10th Annual Motorheads Show and Blessing of Motors and Drivers was held in August.”

In the Neighborhood by Heather Reese, Minnesota Grocers Association. “Kim Mackenthun of Mackenthun’s Fine Foods in Waconia was inducted into the MN Grocers Assoc. Hall of Fame.”

In the Neighborhood by Barb DeGroot, MN Landscape Arboretum. “Check out our brand new Arboretum Grand Entry Plaza and Gatehouse.”

Umpteen Gazillion by Tom Stumpf, Cowboy Correspondent.  “Sometimes a person just doesn’t have much to say.”

The Renaissance Festival by Sue Orsen. “The shishkabobs were tasty and the turkey legs were outstanding — sweet and salty, moist and tender.  It was an amazing party and we thank the Renaissance Festival.”

The Stiftungsfest by Sue Orsen. “I had a hamburger with raw onions.  Allan had pork on a stick.  Thank you, Mom and Dad, for introducing us to Mollie B.”

A Time do do Nothing by Mike Wartman, Former Resident of Victoria. “It was sure fun doing nothing in August in the old days and not having to worry about an entire month thinking about the new school year.”

Cars and Friends in Paradise by Chuck Freiberg, Up North Cabin Guy. “August started with the Up North Gal and I visiting a few used car lots, looking for a replacement for my Jeep Liberty.  Our search led us to Siren Motor Sports in Siren, Wisconsin.”

Working with City of Victoria by Randy Maluchnik, Carver County Commissioner. “I am currently looking at working with the City of Victoria for a trail along County Road 11 from County Road 10 to Victoria.”

Lake Minnetonka Regional Park by Sue Orsen. “There were enough clouds to keep the sun’s brightest rays at bay.  There were enough breezes to keep the skin cool and comfortable.”

Valleyfair by Sue Orsen. “I now speak of the Wild Thing, the Corkscrew, the Renegade, and the High Roller with firsthand knowledge and experience.’

Lake Auburn Ice Cream Social by Sue Orsen. “The annual Social featured pie and ice cream, cake and ice cream, root beer floats, and pizza to boot!”

Eight Fall Parade Homes in Victoria by Wendy Danks, Blders Association of Twin Cities. “The Fall Parade features outdoor living at its finest.”
