PUMPKIN DAVIDSON.

Mr. P.D. celebrates the balmy weather and brilliant autumn color by riding to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, the largest public garden in the Upper Midwest.

EMERSON AND THOREAU.

The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum is hosting a play about the friendship of Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau and their mutual love of nature.  The play is called "Nature" and it will run on select Thursday and Friday evenings and weekends.  The audience is taken on a journey through the natural environment with bagpipes, ancient flutes, drums, and choral arrangements woven into the script.

BUTTERFLY BETTY.

The outstanding colors of fall, both natural and manmade, are on display at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, along with the  many whimsical scarecrows like Butterfly Betty.

THE AHHS OF OZ

These handmade "scarecrows" are offered along with a diverse seasonal fall color and amazing variety of landscapes.  Some of the "scarecrows" on display outdoors near the Yellow Brick Road at the MN Landscape Arboretum include the Tin Man, Dorothy of Kansas, the Cowardly Lion, and the Strawman.

GERTRUDE THE GARDEN GODDESS.

Whimsical scarecrows, sponsored and created by Bachman's

as well as staff at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum,

are on display outdoors between the Oswald Center

and the Snyder Building.  Gertie wears a grass skirt.

STICKMAN.

There is little or no meat on the bones of Mr. Stickman.

As a matter of fact, some passersby suggest he's only

good for kindling.  Get out the marshmallows!

Get out the hotdogs!  But not until he's dismantled.

OLIVIA ALLEN, our daughter who is a freshman this year at Chanhassen High School, was announced on September 11th as the Winner at the Lifeblood Award Ceremonies presented by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This award was for Olivia's efforts the last three years in the  Pennies for Patients Campaign at Chaska Middle School West.  She was the leading fundraiser each year and accomplished this by going door to door after school and on weekends.

Olivia raised close to $3,000!  There are 800 schools and 380,000 students in the Upper Midwest that participate in this annual fundraising event.  Her efforts helped Chaska Middle School West rank in the Top Five schools all three years.  We're obviously very proud of Olivia and her accomplishments.

Campaign Director Kelly Fegley said, "We are so inspired by Olivia's story of going door to door to collect donations for Pennies for Patients.  Her spirit and heart are so big.  We will share her story and take a moment to honor her at the Lifeblood Awards Ceremony at the Women's Club of Minneapolis."

Please feel free to contact me or Olivia's mother, Lori Anderson of Excelsior for more information.  Thank you.
