GAZETTE

To the Editor:

We are writing in support of Tom Strigel for Victoria City Council.  We know Tom to be a committed, diligent, and intelligent individual.  We are fortunate that Tom and his family are willing to sacrifice their personal and family time for the benefit of the City of Victoria and its residents.

We want to take this opportunity to let this community know what an asset we believe Tom Strigel will be to the City of Victoria.  Tom is cognizant that the role of a city councilmember involves both leadership and stewardship, leadership to help  direct the growth and evolution of our city and stewardship with respect to the community, environmental and financial resources of the City of Victoria.  We can count on Tom to be a good and responsible leader as well as a good and responsible steward.

Please join us in support of Tom Strigel for Victoria City Council on Tuesday, November 2nd.

To the Editor:

Hi, Mrs. Orsen.  I found the fishhook on page 37 in the September Gazette on the happy tooth.  My dad helped me find it so if I win, he says I have to split the money with him.  Is that true?  Thank you.

To the Editor:

I want to let you and your readers know how the 2nd Annual Ice Cream Social at Lake Auburn Moravian Church turned out.

Thanks to everyone who came, we had a good crowd in spite of the “iffy” weather that day.  The “Highly Unlikely Gospel Singers” from our sister church, Chaska Moravian, performed most of the evening while we ate tasty food and amazing homemade pies as well as strawberry sundaes and other great desserts.  Everyone enjoyed meeting our wonderful new pastor, Brian Dixon, and his great family.

Many thanks to our friends at Fresh Seasons Market for their help with our menu.  And thanks to the Victoria Gazette for placing our ad so well in the August edition of the paper.  Hope you can come next year.

To the Editor:

Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria is far more than a convenient store.  I hope more residents do the majority of their shopping at Fresh Seasons.  The help and management always give the shopper courtesy, service above the call of duty, quality products in all departments, and fair pricing.

The larger chains may run more lost losers to bring customers in, which their size permits them to do.  But over all, Fresh Seasons is competitive in their pricing.  Their produce is always fresh and their fresh meat and fish department, along with their friendly butchers, is the equal of an upscale supermarket, if not better.

We must keep Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria.  We can only do this if we make them our primary market.

To the Editor:

Drivers, passengers, and kids better be buckled up or in the correct child restraint as the Carver County Sheriff’s Deputies are ramping up enhanced “Click it or Ticket” seatbelt patrols October 8th to October 28th.  The state’s primary seatbelt law became effective June 9th, 2009, allowing law enforcement to stop and ticket motorists solely for belt violations.

The primary law requires passengers in all seating positions, including the back seat, to be buckled up or seated in the correct child restraint.  A seatbelt fine is $25 but can cost more than $100 with court and administrative fees.

In Minnesota during 2007-2009, motorists killed in crashes numbered 1,026.  Of that number, 476 were unbelted.  In addition, 968 unbelted motorists were seriously injured in Minnesota.
