Have you ever heard of a Monk Fish? Hmmm. Not I. Where do you suppose that puts me? Out on the Atlantic Ocean, that’s where! It’s exactly where I ordered and was served Monk Fish a couple weeks ago on our Cruise of the Northeast and I want to tell you that it was very good.

The Monk Fish was not dressed in a frock nor was it roped with a three-knotted belt and going barefoot in sandals. It was, however, served quite simply with obvious vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience -- which means the dish made a hit with all the Christians on board. If they are ugly and bulgy on the outside (am I referring to the Monk Fish or the Christians?), many of them are delicious on the inside.

So here I am, now beached on land, having just dove into the minnow bucket for the winner of this month’s $10 drawing from the sea of applicants who found the latest fishhook on page 37 in the happy tooth of Drs. Dungey and Menser’s ad in the September issue of the Gazette. The winner is Mary Meyer of Waconia. Congratulations, Mary Meyer.

I hid another fishhook in this issue of the Gazette. It’s a leisurely and carefree counterbalance to anything I do that I might deem very important. If you find the fishhook, let me know in one way or another -- digitally or by snail mail. And if you ever order escargot, as we did on the Norwegian Jewel, maybe you’d also like the little critters to not be drowning in so much garlic butter.
