Pumpkin Palooza. Do you know that there are red pumpkins, blue pumpkins, and even white pumpkins?  Do you know that pumpkins have names like Big Max, Howden Biggen, Baby Boo, Long Island Cheese, Atlantic Giant, and Batwing Mix?   It’s true, and you’ll find them at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  Maybe you’ve also noticed there’s quite a nice array of pumpkins at Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria.

Team Foxjet hosted the Minnesota State Meet and swam to 23 State titles at this year’s Long Course State Meet from July 30th through August 2nd at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, and won the runner-up AAA Team Trophy.  With over 1,300 swimmers, it was the largest state meet in history.  The swimmers pictured in this photo were members of the 2009 Foxjet State Swim Team.

Team Foxjet swim team members come from all over the southwest metro.  There are quite a few swimmers on the team from Victoria, but only one who was on the state team and in this picture.  Dolan Craine of Victoria is in the second row and is second from the left.

Team Foxjet is a member of Minnesota Swimming, which is one of the 59 local Swimming Committees that comprise USA Swimming.  USA Swimming is the national governing body for amateur swimming in the United States.  The team trains at facilities in Eden Prairie, Chaska, and Richfield.

Golfing Again. On August 29th we had our annual St. Victoria Choir Tournament.  Tom Stumpf, inset, did a great job of organizing the event.  At the end of the day, it came down to two teams tied so a putt-off commenced.  After four attempts between Pat McNallan and Matt Schmillen, Pat won.

The winning team (above, l-r): Sheryl Capelle (my sister), Kelly Montayne (my best friend), Michelle (me) and Pat McNallan (my husband).  Left:  Pam Schmillen, son Matt Schmillen, and Thom Derr.  We had a great time.  It was a little cool that day but fun was had by all.
