GAZETTE

November 2010

To the Editor:

Hello.  Just wondering if you knew anything about a Ferrari meeting/club/event that happened on Sunday, October 10th.  We were driving into Victoria and saw a new 458 Italia and then later saw a very exclusive Ferrari 509 GTO in the parking lot of Fresh Seasons.  I’ve never seen these cars in Victoria, or Minnesota, so I was wondering if it was a coincidence or an event.  Thanks.

         via email

EDITOR’S NOTE:  I know they have a car show at Mount Olivet Church West, located on Rolling Acres Road in Victoria, this time of year.  Maybe some of the show stoppers stopped in downtown Victoria along the way.

To the Editor:

During this political season it is important to note the past accomplishments of our legislative leaders.  On behalf of Ridgeview Medical Center and the overall health care community, I would like to highlight the accomplishments of Senator Julianne Ortman.

Senator Ortman was invaluable to Ridgeview Medical Center as we increased our licensed bed capacity to meet community demand.  This is in light of the state’s moratorium on adding new hospital beds.

Senator Ortman was able to take our legislation and move it through a very complex process and achieve the outcome that would not only benefit Ridgeview Medical Center but also our patients and our communities.

I’ve also been impressed with Senator Ortman’s ability to articulate the local health care needs in light of federal and state health reform issues.  Senator Ortman certainly has been a champion for individual health care rights and responsibilities.  She has sought to understand and seek counsel from those of us who work in health care on a daily basis.

During this time, I would like to reflect back on what our legislative leaders do for us on a day to day basis.  This is a time to say thank you for their past efforts.

To the Editor:

Thank you for bringing back the wonderful memories of Touch of Bavaria in the October issue of the Gazette.  We always had a great time with friends there.  The music was great, the German food was delicious, not to forget the German beer.  People came from areas like Minneapolis, St. Paul, Forest Lake, Hopkins, and, of course, many local people from Victoria and the area.  What a fun relaxing time that was.  We still have the mugs with the Touch of Bavaria logo on them.  Thanks again for the memories.

To the Editor:

Would there be a chance that you would have access to an article in the Gazette from back in July 1985?  I have a request from someone about “Father Agnellus Sobolewski leaves St. Victoria Parish.”  We have microfilm, but not film for 1985.  And we have not located our hardcopy either.  If it is possible, I would appreciate you sending me a copy either by email or regular mail.  Let me know the cost.

We really enjoy the Gazette here at the library.  As you probably know, we index the paper.  Individuals doing research are then able to use the index to find items they are looking for.  Thank you.

To the Editor:

Veterans Day will soon be here so remember to say a prayer for them.  Then it will be time to give thanks for all the good things Thanksgiving Day brings us.  To the editor, staff, and all your readers, have a great Thanksgiving Day.  Happy birthday to grandson Zach on November 18th.

Interesting to read about all your traveling.  Fishhook was easy to find, this time on page 26 in the Wells Fargo ad.
