Maybe you like ahi tuna and maybe you don’t. We love it and if it’s on the menu in an establishment we often order it. Sometimes it’s served as an appetizer and the portions are quite small. Sometimes it’s served atop a lettuce salad and the portions are still small. But when I order ahi tuna as an entree, I’m more pleasantly satisfied with the larger amount of delicacy placed before me.

Recently we’ve been picking up tuna fillets at the grocery store and making seared ahi tuna at home. It’s simple and delicious. The only ingredients you need -- in addition to the tuna steaks -- are sesame oil, soy sauce, grated fresh ginger, minced garlic, green onion, and lime juice. Wanna enjoy it sometime with us? In the meantime, keep your eye out for the fishhook that I hide in each issue of the Victoria Gazette. It’s not big enough to catch a tunafish, but it’s big enough to snag a ten dollar bill. Last month Barbara Johnson of Sacred Heart, Minnesota, had her name pulled from the minnow bucket to win the ten bucks. Barbara found the fishhook stuck in the sweater of the KleinBank ad on page 6. Congratulations, young lady!

Until then, stash the tuna and stuff the turkey. Cook your taters and gravy and don’t put so much whipped cream on the pumpkin pie. It’s fattening.
