JUDGE FINES VICTORIA COUNCILMEMBERS

FOR INTENT TO VIOLATE THE LAW IN GOOD FAITH

         The verdict arrived on March 31st, 2016, two years after the ordeal began.  It began in February, 2014, as a civil action lawsuit and a criminal complaint by a handful of residents whose stated intention was to remove four Victoria city councilmembers from their positions to which they were elected by a majority of Victoria residents, more than once.

         Kelly Grinnell, City of Victoria Finance Director, was recognized April 25th for achieving the designation of Certified Public Finance Officer.  In addition, said City Manager Laurie Hokkanen, "The city and staff again won the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award from GFOA which recognizes outstanding achievement.  Kelly and Trisha worked hard to put that together."

         Community Development Director Ben Landhauser reported April 25th that both Victoria and Waconia are looking at updating their 2040 comprehensive plans.  In so doing, they are looking at future annexation areas of Laketown Township.  Ben pointed to an area of the township that encompasses Crown College.
