WATERBROOKE

Fellowship

A place where all may experience God in a meaningful and personal way, in Victoria.  952-443-0062

To the Editor:

The food was super.  My prime rib was one of the best I have ever had!  Harriet liked her chicken as well.  There were only 16 people having supper and a total of 30 or so for the performance at the Old Log Theater in Excelsior.

During the production, the actress playing the part of Mahalia Jackson was putting wads of money down her front.  Then as she was emptying a suitcase, a bunch of wads of money came out all over the stage, and one rolled off the stage and fell on the floor near me.

Then, this actress stared at me and said to me, "Do you have some of my money?"  So I got up, picked up the money, and gave it to her and sat back down.  Then she said, "Are you sure you do not have more of my money?  Stand up and go through your pockets."  So I stood up, and she asked Harriet if I was with her.

Finally, the actress was satisfied and went on with the play.  Of course, all of this made the audience laugh and laugh, and it had me laughing too.  Thank you so much, "Mahalia," for the gift.

To the Editor:

My wife April Thomes and her friend (now business partner, too!) Junelle Grindberg recently opened up a new business called Beyond Beauty Aesthetic Clinic in Chanhassen.  Right off Hwy 5 and Dell Road.  We live here in Victoria as do Junelle and her husband Guy.

I just wanted to publicly state how proud I am of both of them for the hard work and dedication they have showed over the last year preparing for this new adventure and the great start they are off to.

They have a wonderful mission, which is to help people with any and all sorts of skin care issues like acne, rosacea, sunspots, age lines, etc.  With many people, these skin problems can lead to issues with personal confidence and self worth.  Thus their mission is to truly help people beyond their beauty.

They've just opened in January and have done a fantastic job helping a lot of people in our community.  They've done all this while balancing the responsibilities of being terrific mothers to their kids (two each) and great wives to Guy and myself.

Great job, girls!  We are very proud of you.

To the Editor:

My Uncle Fred Plocher suggested that I contact you in order to put an obituary in your newspaper.  My mother Jeanne Plocher Firestone (sister of Fred) passed away on February 1st.  What is your deadline?

To the Editor:

I read with sadness about the recent passing of a Victoria legacy, Vangie Schneider.  My condolences to the Schneider family.  It has been a tough year for all of them.

I remember the decades in which Vangie and Leo were the faces of Leo's Bar  and icons of downtown Victoria.  What people perhaps didn't know was that she made fantastic M&M cookies, if you could manage to get inside the "pen" and gain access to the family abode above the bar.

Always enjoy the monthly articles from Mike Wartman, Victoria's own Garrison Keillor.  I remember that the only Valentine hearts remaining after a week were the pink ones that tasted like Pepto-Bismol.  I believe some factually had the words "Yech" or "Gross" printed on them.

Finally, the yearly St. Blaise Blessing of the throat, that Mike also wrote about, did not help me growing up in Victoria as I often had to go to the doctor or the emergency ward to have a fish bone removed.  For that I blame Euch Wartman, our dad, for catching such big fish, unlike those coming out of Lake Victoria (Stieger).  No offense to master fisherman Mark "Burger" Jesberg.

Here's some student news for you.  Congratulations to son Joshua Wartman for being named to the Dean's List at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County for his 4.0 GPA during the fall 2012 semester.

Looking forward to seeing you, presumably late this summer when we will be back home to celebrate Julianne's 80th.

Pat Wartman  (Son of Euch and Julianne)

         Silver Spring, Maryland

To the Editor:

The hook is in the Lions Pancake ad.  The pancakes and French toast are always a treat, but would taste even better if my name was pulled from the bucket.
