Back to Back.  Some noses at the recent Fishing Contest in Victoria were pointed at fishing holes and poles and some were pointed at the food tent.   ~S.O./Victoria, MN.

Steven Tibbles, son of Mark and Julie Tibbles of Victoria, has been accepted into West Point.  Steven is a senior at Chanhassen High School.  He joined the Army National Guard the spring of his junior year and attended boot camp in Fort Benning, Georgia, for ten weeks.  He competes in Mixed Martial Arts, track and field, and football.  Steven is also a leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Kara Notvedt of Victoria, right, co-captained the Chaska High School Hawks Dance team with Jackie Schneider, left, of Chaska to two state titles by winning both the Jazz/Funk and Precision/High Kick Minnesota State High School League AA State Dance Championship the weekend of February 17th and 18th.  Kara was also named to the All-State All-Academic Team, All-Tournament High Kick Team, and the Chaska team was named an All-State Academic Team.

Kara, a Hawks Dance Team member for five years who earned all-conference honors on this year's undefeated conference team, is also an Honor Society Member with 3.97 GPA.  She will finish her career at Chaska by captaining the golf team for the third time this spring.  She has already achieved two all-conference and one all-conference honorable mention selections in her past three years as a Hawks golfer.

Katie Miller of Victoria was recently the recipient of the AFAA Award, given to selected individuals by the nonprofit association Anaphylaxis and Food Allery Association of Minnesota for outstanding achievements, extraordinary volunteerism, and Saving a Life.  Katie received the award jointly with two others.  The above photo was taken at the AFAA Banquets Awards dinner held at Jimmy's Food and Cocktails in Minnetonka.

In the photo is Dennis Douda, left, TV anchor, reporter, and writer, who presented the award, and recipients (l-r) Katie Miller of Victoria, Andrew Gray, and Kathryn Kmit.

Katie drove a great distance to a family's home to deliver a life-saving age-appropriate formula to save a baby, and delivered enough for the child to consume throughout a weekend and into the week when red tape prevented access to the formula.  All three recipients of the AFAA award stand out in such efforts in the category of Saving a Life.
