Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

We loved our baby announcement in the last issue of the Gazette.  I was wondering where we could get additional copies of the paper for family and friends.  Thanks.

         Tracey Hester

         Victoria, Minnesota

EDITOR’S NOTE:  You’ll find extra papers at Fresh Seasons Market in Victoria.

To the Editor:

Hi, Sue.  I was quite surprised to get my copy of the Gazette yesterday and see my neighbors Stan and Jayne Hamerski on the front page.  My surprise was that the night before, while we were out to dinner with them and ran into you and choir friends at the Victoria House, not one person said a word about the upcoming story.  Guess these things are “top secret” until they come off the press!

At any rate, it was a great story about our good neighbors (and most of all, friends), the Hamerski’s.  They are a wonderful couple and we are proud to be their neighbors.  Keep up the good work and stories.  I’m glad I finally got to meet you.  You do a great job with the paper and we always enjoy your stories.  Fun to have local news.

It was great finding my old buddies from the Vietnam War, especially living in this country and right here in the Cities.  I can never explain in words what that has meant to me after so many years of wondering if they had even survived the way and all of the tragedies that happened after it was finally over.  It has been an awesome ride for me.  Thanks again for sharing my story in the Gazette a while back.

As for your choir, they are simply awesome.  We have known Fr. Bob since he was an associate pastor at Our Lake of the Lake in Mound with then Father Dudley (later Bishop Dudley), maybe 35 years ago or so.  We belonged to OLL for the better part of the last 50 years and we only officially joined St. Victoria this past July.  Our priest at OLL (Father Stan Mader) was transferred and we knew it was time for us to move, especially since we live here in Deer Run.

         See you on Sunday.

To the Editor:

Two weeks ago I lost my retirement watch presented to me by General Mills after 38 years of service and seven physical moves out of state.  My name was engraved on the back and dated July 1st, 1990.  Someone in Victoria found the watch, and returned it by placing it in our mailbox.  I wish to thank this person.  The watch means a lot to me.  I am sure the finder reads your exceptional paper.

I have lived and traveled to many places.  I consider Victoria one of the best communities.  No community I ever lived in had a paper like yours, and no one ever will.  We have been living here for 10 wonderful years now.  Thank you for keeping us entertained and well informed.

I am going on 81 years of age now, and I never have been so concerned about our country and where our so-called leaders are leading us.  Our grandchildren will suffer.  We do not have statesmen in Washington.  How long can we go on spending and printing worthless currency?

Please don’t give up expressing your views.

To the Editor:

Thank you for your commitment to Holy Family Catholic High School.  We are always grateful for your interest in our school.  It is because of your involvement in the community that we want to let you know that Jim Hamburge, our President, announced his intention to retire on February 12th, 2010.

We are in the process of organizing a send-off that recognizes Jim’s contributions and enthusiasm.  Please consider attending.  We will gather in the Slattery Athletic and Convocation Center at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 11th, for a presentation and social time that will allow people to extend their best wishes to Jim.

We are devoted to continuing the wonderful legacy of Holy Family with our current students, staff, and community.  The search process has begun.
