Surprised by Seventy Continued

Dedicated to the sunshine of truth,

the moonshine of meeting deadlines,

and the starshine of Victoria.

Replied Jeanne, “You have to be considerate of your spouse and treat them nice.  Your spouse is the most important person in your life.  Sometimes you forget that.”

It’s no surprise to see that the Thompsons have been married 70 years.  They are very in tune to each other.  Jeanne hesitates so Tommy can speak.  Tommy listens intently as Jeanne speaks.

Although both are over 90 years of age, there is still work to do.  Jeanne has gardening in their spacious yard on the channel at Smithtown Bay, and she uses her iPad daily to email back and forth with their children.  “We have five great grandchildren who are all living in Texas,” she said, “but we don’t see them very often.  We don’t travel like we used to.”

Tommy, who has enjoyed wood framing his favorite prints and photographs, sits in his chair or his wheelchair and awaits the good cooking of his dietician wife, who happens to love the crockpot.  That means hot food and sometimes it’s meat and potatoes.

Congratulations on celebrating 70 years, Tommy and Jeanne Thompson.  It is evident that you continue to dearly touch each other's lives.  Thank you for also touching ours.
