A couple weeks ago I ordered broiled walleye at Mancini's in downtown St. Paul. It was delicious. Outstanding, actually. We were with Allan's first cousins that afternoon, celebrating the life of Patrick Brennan who was suffering with pancreatic cancer. Death was at his door but we talked and visited and laughed that Saturday afternoon, May 4th. Pat's mother and Allan's father were brother and sister. We're always aware that Pat and Allan were both born in April of 1947, exactly 10 days apart. Pat died Friday, May 17th. He got hooked for the next life before the rest of us and the event causes me to drop a line about it at this time. Mancini's was the password that drew me here.

I'll also drop a line to tell you that I wasn't so clever as I thought last month, hiding the fishhook in a photograph, for one thing, and in a snowstorm, for another thing. I thought it was a toughie, but some of you are tougher and that includes Sandy Ellingson of St. Paul whose named was pulled out of the minnow bucket just in time to win the $10 drawing. Sandy found the fishhook wrapped around a leg of the patio furniture on page 16 in the May issue. Congratulations, Sandy. Interesting that you're from St. Paul, the same city that drew us to Mancini's and that delicious walleye dinner.
