Victoria Moments Continued

June 2010

The Twins on Target. I took these pictures at Target Field on Saturday, May 29th, when the Minnesota Twins were playing the Texas Rangers.  The Twins won 8-3.  Great game.  The Twins tied it up with a two-run homerun in the 6th inning, then scored six more runs in the next inning.   Our son Nick’s season tickets are on the 3rd baseline, ten rows from the field.  I walked up to the third terrace level to get the large panorama (top) that shows the huge scoreboard on the left and the Minneapolis skyline.

Target Field features one of the closest seating bowls to the playing field in all of Major League Baseball.  That’s Nick (to the right) with his arms folded and Todd Schmitz of Coon Rapids, a friend of Nick’s and fellow season ticket holder, seated next to him.  I took that photo before the game when seats were still filling up.  It was a sell-out game.

Total seating capacity is approximately 39,500.  The ballpark features a 360-degree open main concourse giving fans an uninterrupted view of the playing field.  When you go to buy a brat or a beer, you don’t miss any of the game because there’s open viewing everywhere.  By the way, there are over 400 restrooms so you never have to wait in line.

We sat in the sun for all but the last two innings.  Better than rain.  Most of the games are at night so fans usually don’t get sunburned.  Afternoon games are only on the weekends.

I think the stadium was worth the money, but this is only its first season so opinions can change.
