How can you spend five hours out on Lake Minnetonka and not be fishing for even part of that time? Easy. Happens all the time. We never think of Lake Minnetonka as a fishing lake, maybe because we don't keep fishing poles, fishing bait, fishing lures, fishing bucket, or fishing pail on the boat. So fishing doesn't cross our minds. We simply head out just before supper time, turn on the tunes, put the kabobs on the grill, and float around until sunset. It's become a summer ritual -- close to home and yet in another world.

We do notice singular fishermen here and there, but we never see them pull up a big one. We don't even see them get a nibble. I suspect some fishermen are also more interested in the evening tide and sunset than the big catch of the day.

The catch of the day in this little fishing corner of the world goes to Joyce Burau of Victoria, who found the fishhook hiding in the arm of the sofa on page 8 in the June Gazette. The sofa belongs to Yetzer's Home Furnishings in Waconia -- unless it's been sold. Congratulations, Joyce. Your big winnings ($10) will be on its way to you soon.
