The Victoria

GAZETTE

January 2013

To the Editor:

This letter is written to express my sincere thanks to you for your great work and support while I served on the Victoria City Council.  Your newspaper's coverage of the actions of the City Council and of my work in particular has always been accurate, fair, and objective.  For this, I am truly appreciative.

I have often thought of the many nights you have spent up at City Hall, listening to the ruminations and deliberations of various Councils over the past 30+ years.  The City of Victoria has changed remarkably over that period of time, and your coverage of that change has served our community well.

As you may know, your newspaper is unlike any other I am familiar with.  It is a blend of news coverage, stories about the important people and activities in Victoria, and of the many residents and historical events that help make us unique.  Many of the items you write about would never be covered in another newspaper, which is why you have so many fans, including me.

Please accept this gift from my husband Jerry and me as a token of my thanks.  It is made of copper from the former roof of the St. Paul Cathedral here in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Jerry's company completed a major restoration of that historic landmark, and he was fortunate enough to be given two of these mementoes.  We would like you and Allan to have one.  We hope you will hang it somewhere prominently in your home and enjoy its significance.

Jerry and I will be traveling a great deal over the next several months on this new phase in our married life.  We look forward to staying neighbors and  friends and wish you both all the best.  Thank you again for your support while I served on the Victoria City Council.  I truly appreciated it.

To the Editor:

"Twas The Month Before Christmas" in your December paper was the best!  So true.  Why do we have to put up with all of that!  Merry Christmas.  You do a great job with the Gazette.

To the Editor:

You are doing such a great job with the Gazette, Sue.  Thank you for placing me and Janie in it in 2012.  My family in Poland can't believe that people might write about me in American papers.  Smiles of appreciation.

To the Editor:

Had to go through your paper four times to find the fishhook on the log cabin in the Kerber Family Homes Christmas greeting ad.  I thought maybe you were going with a more modern fishhook like the hangar on page 8 or the little fishing guy on page 17.  However, I'm happy to  see that it is always the same fishhook.  Yeah!
