Engaged.  Willy and Barb Williams of rural Victoria are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Jessica Williams to Andrew Marjala, son of  Donald and Patricia Marjala of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  Jessica is a 2001 graduate of Waconia High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business in 2005 from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.  She is currently employed as a Project Analyst for the consulting firm, Conventions, Sports & Leisure International.  Andrew is a 2001 graduate of Regis High School and is currently enrolled in the University of Minnesota’s College of Pharmacy.  He anticipates graduating with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May.  A September wedding is planned.

Jameson Kenney was the 1st Place winner in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest sponsored locally by the Victoria Lions club.  Jameson’s poster is among some 350,000 entries submitted worldwide in the 21st annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.  Judging is one on artistic merit, originality, and portrayal of the contest theme, “Peace Begins With Me.”

Victoria Lions Club President Jeff Chapman was impressed by the amount of effort exhibited by the Victoria Elementary School students.  “It’s obvious that these young people have strong ideas of what peace means to them.  I am proud that we were able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions.”

Jameson’s poster now advances to round two of the competition at the District level, as part of the four-step process to reach the International finals.  Ultimately, one grand prize winner will receive a cash award of $2,500 and an all-expense paid trip for the winner and two family members to New York for the awards ceremony at Lions Day at the United Nations.  We are cheering for Jameson as his poster advances in the competition, and we hope that his vision will ultimately be shared with others around the world.
