To the Editor:

As an addendum to last month’s snote, on June 14th we headed for Lebanon, Pennsylvania, with a stop in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for the 70th birthday party of former Victoria resident Richard Plocher.

Then, instead of taking the tollways, we picked up the old Lincoln Highway (now US 30) just east of Chicago and had a great lunch at a restaurant in Valparaiso, Indiana, which specialized in turkey and it was good.

We continued through the neat farmlands of Indiana and stayed the night in Warsaw.  There were over 70 traffic lights  along this part of the highway.

Part of the reason for this trip was to help our daughter Pam.  Pam is a Special Ed teacher in the Lebanon School District and one of her students pushed her into a bookcase which fell on her, breaking her leg.

While in Lebanon we spent a day at the Philadelphia Zoo, visited friends in Silver Spring, MD, saw the new cylarama at Gettysburg, visited the Antique Car Museum in Hershey, PA, as well as the Hershey Museum.

We also visited the Moravian cities of Lititz, Bethlehem, and Nazareth, PA.  Lititz has a great chocolate factory which is now owned by Cargill (one of my Prudential accounts).  We did some shopping at the Moravian Book Store in Bethlehem and chatted with The Rev. Otto Dreydoppel.  Both he and his wife Sue recently had surgery and we desired to let them rest.

We visited Pam’s inlaws who live in Moravian Hall Square in Nazareth.  We are now home trying to catch up on all the work that was not done while we were gone.

To the Editor:

Good afternoon, Sue.  I recently was laid off at Carver County News in Watertown.  The good news is that I still have my monthly column.  Are you hiring?  I worked as the office manager/columnist.

To the Editor:

I have been a resident in Victoria for a year and also a filmmaker.  I would like to know if you’re the right person to talk to as far as me getting any recognition for being a filmmaker from this great town or if should I talk to another colleague from the Victoria Gazette.  If you’re the right person to talk to, I wanted to tell you my story on why I moved here and show you some of my work I have done in Minneapolis and the SW metro area.  If you’re interested, it would be great if you contact me whenever you get the time.

To the Editor:

Thank you to everyone who helped celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.  If you were there, we were so happy.  If you forgot or couldn’t make it, we understand.  Thanks for all the beautiful cards.  A special thank you to our kids, spouses, and grandkids, and all our friends and relatives.  The food and the band were excellent.  We will never forget it.  God bless.

Thank you, Sue, for putting our picture in the paper last month.  So great of you.

To the Editor:

I was told that along with the selection of Chanhassen as “Best City,” that they considered having a rating for “City Newspapers” but they had to drop the idea as they could not find any that could compete with the Victoria Gazette.  I agree 100%.  Blessings, Sue.  You people do such a great job.
