Sailing Away.  As Summer 2005 sails away, we drink in the sights and sounds that will have to sustain us until Summer 2006.  How many new Victoria residents know that part of Lake Minnetonka and its shoreline lies within the City of Victoria?  Many related photos have been recently added to Sue's Album at www.VictoriaGazette.com

Rough Rider.  Dressed in full leather including chaps, Thom Derr, friend of the Victoria Gazette, enjoys every riding day of the year and especially autumn days of warmer colors and cooler temperatures.

The children of the Tristan Heights neighborhood in Victoria thank all who supported their lemonade sale to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina.  They raised $177, which will be matched by Pepsico for a grand total of $354 in money towards the cause.  I would personally like to thank the kids who spent their last day of summer vacation doing something so wonderful.
The kids in the photo are Elise Kowalski, Gracie Becker, Lindsey Zemanick, Claire Becker, Jennifer Kiefer, Taylor Kowalski, Dylan Kiefer, Glenn Manning, Walker Manning, Emily Johnson, Ethan Johnson, and Matthew Shea.

First day at Victoria Elementary.  Attached are some pictures I took on the first day of school here at the new Victoria Elementary School.  I don't know if you had a chance to be there for yourself.  It was quite a day for the kids and the community.

Eagle Scout.  One of our scouts from Troop 337 had his Eagle Scout ceremony on September 14th.  Although he is not a Victoria resident, Dan Marsh has been an active part of Troop 337 and is a great example to the rest of our scouts as to the ideals that an Eagle should follow.  He is our troop's first Eagle Scout.  We are very proud of him and his accomplishment.  Dan has served as Patrol Leader, Historian, and Librarian.  He earned merit badges in Climbing, Photography, Personal Management, Wilderness Survival and Music.  He has mentored young people within the YMCA day camps and been active in his school environmental club.  Dan's project was with the Southern Valley Alliance for Battered Women, focusing on the children's visiting room where walls were repainted and a bookcase and toy boxes were built.
Thanks again for recognizing us in past issues of the Gazette, and for considering this request to recognize Dan Marsh.  His parents are Dave and Ann Marsh of Chanhassen.
