To the Editor: I know that you are all familiar with Julius Caesar, the Roman emperor, but do you know the story of his extended family? He had a younger brother with bad hay fever, Julius Sneezer, and a 90-year old grandfather named Julius Geezer. Then there was his clownish nephew, Julius Teaser. Another relative was a chain smoker, Julius Weazer. These are little known but true his-torical facts. Check it out. Jesse Coghill Jordan, Minnesota
To the Editor: We are finding that we have some of the Louisiana residents staying with family or friends here in Carver County. I processed one case on Saturday, will be doing another on Tuesday, and am not sure of the third. Due to all the privacy, I cannot release their names unless I have their permission. For stats on Hurricane Katrina, go to www.redcross.org. Sorry I don't have the time to include that but I'm alone in the office most of the time and on overload. LaVonne Korells Chapter Exec. Carver County Red Cross, MN
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Hope you are doing well these days. Haven't really talked to you for such a long time. My four kids are now all back in school, and I am finding I have a little more time to get back into the swing of writing. The library director, Melissa Brechon, suggested I get something in the Gazette about starting up a small citizen library interest group in Victoria. It could be the startup of a small "Friends" group for a library in Victoria. All we would need is a small notification of a meeting in town somewhere. Carol Vadnais Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: If you pay attention to the new these days, you already know that we are hear-ing a lot about the graying of the baby boomers, those born between the years 1946 and 1964, the largest age group in U.S. history. The City of Victoria has taken steps to ensure that our community and sur-rounding townships are ready for the "age boom" by embarking upon the Victoria Communities for a Lifetime Campaign. The first step is already a reality with a newly appointed Victoria Senior Commis-sion up and running. The Senior Commission began its work with a community survey to meas-ure Victoria's level of senior-friendliness and hear from the locals what may be lacking or likely to be needed in the not so distant future. By way of statistics, the baby boomers start reaching age 85 in the year 2030. Have you filled out a survey or did we miss you? If we missed you, there is still time. Simply call Jennifer Kretsch at the City of Victoria, 952-443-2198, to re-quest a survey. It will be mailed to you and the Senior Commission will even include a self addressed stamped envelope to make it easy. Your input is critical to the success of the Victoria Communities for a Lifetime planning. Please fill out a survey and let us know your opinions. Your voice counts. Victoria Senior Commission (Maureen Schneider, Marilynn Boorsma, Peter Crawford, David Lindgren, Dawn Peterson, Ron Allen, and Emerald Crest staff) Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Thank you for coming to the dedi-cation of the Victoria Elementary School yesterday. I was glad to see that Victoria was represented. I don't think that there were any other press writers present. Too bad. VES will also be home for many non-Victoria students. Thanks again. Diane Koban District 112 School Board Member Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: The Victoria City Council is apparently considering a vote on the potential banning of snowmobiling on the LRT trail. Most Victoria residents are unaware of this vote and we snow-mobilers think this vote is happening too quietly, too quickly. I think it is unfair that councilmembers vote on this issue before information about it has been reported in the Gazette. The Gazette is the paper for Victoria. Doesn't it seem fair to all to notify residents via the Victoria Gazette? Lisa Schmidt Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: I would like to thank everyone for the cards, letters, and wishes for getting well while I was sick. I am feeling better. I would also like to thank the Fire Depart-ment for all their help. Thank you. Jane Christopherson Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Hi, Sue. It was nice to see you and to meet your husband at the Dedication of Victoria Elementary on Sunday. Thanks for coming. Don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. Nancy Kracke, District 112 Director of Community Relations Chaska, Minnesota
To the Editor: Here's the $10 check you sent me in August for finding the fishhook, but it wasn't I who found it. I'm curious. Are there other Lynn Olson's in our commu-nity? Lynn Olson Victoria, Minnesota
