To the Editor:
I received your remittance envelope, checked my Quicken data, and discovered that I did not send you any money in 2006 so I added dollars for that oversight
When I visit Minnesota next week, I am going to have my mother get out one of her picture albums which has a page devoted to World War II soldiers and sailors from our corner of Laketown Township.  If we find the pictures, I may bring them back to Texas where I can scan them and email them to you.
Mother will be 95 this December.  She came to Laketown Township as the country school teacher of District #19.  That was about 70 years ago.
I'll email you if I can find the "Greatest Generation" photos.

EDITOR'S NOTE:  Thank you, Mr. Miller, for writing.  I'd love to see the pictures and hear more from you.

To the Editor:
Look what's near!  Spring is here.  Father Conran Schneider's fishing gear ought to be set to go.  "Ham" it up at the lakes, I say.  He won't have too far to go for a fishhook since it's on page 29 on the ham in the April Gazette.  We already had an 81-degree day in the last week of March.  The hornets and wasps were out aplenty that day!!

To the Editor:
Thanks for all the Holtmeier publicity in the April issue of the Gazette.  We really enjoyed your article about Dr. Audrey Fox and her family ["A Life Changing Experience] in the April issue of the Gazette.
Some years back, when their boys were quite young, Dr. Fox brought them to the bank here in Victoria to see Santa when I was volunteering.  Of course, Dr. Fox is our eye doctor and is so very great in that position.
Also, the President of our Lake Minnetonka Stamp Club, Bill Anderson, is a retired teacher in the Mound school system and Dr. Fox was one of his out-standing pupils.  His face always lights up when I mention that Harriet or I have seen her.

To the Editor:
It is challenging to locate the fish-hook each month.  It sometimes takes a couple of tries through the Gazette and at times I must confess I give up.  But this month it's on page 29 in the Macken-thun's ad at the front of the ham.  I enjoy the paper each month, especially keeping up on the local news.  Thanks for provid-ing a great service.

To the Editor:
Sue, please, don't call me Mr. Schmid, just Rich.  Thank you for your efforts in publishing the Gazette.  It is always received well in our house and is certainly pleasing to our Lord.
I am attaching to you a letter to Mary Hershberger Thun, Mayor of the City of Victoria, to whom I wrote ...
"Dear Mayor, After reading your letter in the last [April] publication of the Gazette, I found myself at a loss for words, which is generally something that does not occur very often, and I have been contemplating writing this email to you since ...
"I usually just let things work them-selves out the best they can, but in this instance I felt compelled to put in my two-cents ...
"My wife and I have lived in this town for ten years now and have learned to love the community and the people who make it up, even though we may not always agree with them on some of the decisions that are made on our behalf ...
"I do not pretend to know the entire history behind the decision to build the Victoria Field House and what efforts went into doing a study on the demo-graphics, but I would assume that some did and now wonder what those reports might have reflected at that time ...
"I do not wish to lay blame on any-one for that mistake, but wonder if this might not be compounded by another by selling that building and the adjoining land! ...
"All communities go through strug-gles that sometime require a burden to be carried by the taxpayers.  I don't like taxes, but that is part of living where we do and if we need to dig a little deeper to make our community, oh well ...
"When I was growing up, I might have done a lot better with the help of a facility like the Victoria Field House rather than the trouble I found myself in most of my adolescent life, and that's what we need to remember
- that it's for the community!!  Thank you.
