To the Editor: You, your family, and employees are invited to the annual Victoria Chamber of Commerce Picnic on Saturday, July 26th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lions Park. Please bring a dish to share. The Chamber will provide steamed corn on the cob, picked fresh that day and prepared by the Steamin' Demons. Don't forget your lawn chairs and blankets. Thank you. Marlene Speltz Victoria Chamber of Commerce To the Editor: Hi, Sue. Can you start sending the Gazette to my uncle and aunt, Arnold and Lil Ische at Waconia? Arnold and Lil are the proud parents of Floyd's Lois. They would love getting your paper, as we all know, because you're in the know. Thank you. Darvin Ische, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: The miracle happened once more. You published the July Gazette and I received it. On page 4, your Allan mourns the passing of an old friend, common Sense. "Common Sense died recently in the United States." Will you have the kindness to console your husband? Common Sense returns to life in Victoria youth. In your feature on page one, Nicole Berger says, "I would tell children to use common sense and don't put yourself in a possibly dangerous situation." Well said, Nicole. The fishhook is on page 32 in the power pruner. Fr. Ferdinand Jennen Hasselt, Belgium

To the Editor: Hope you got my e-mail for my listing on the back page of the Gazette. I forgot to mention that we moved here from Alaska. The favorite thing that my parents ever did while visiting us any-where (Mark was in the Air Force) was a flight-seeing tour over Mt. McKinley. They landed on a glacier and loved seeing it all from the air. I hope that you have a great time. Our favorite restaurant is the Mooses Tooth for pizza. They also brew their own beer. There are a few things that we miss about Alaska. Lorri Downs, Victoria, Minnesota
To the Editor: Senator Norm Coleman's Director , Erich Mische, and Regional Affairs repre-sentative, Susan McDonald, will meet with Victoria Mayor Jerry Bohn and Watertown Mayor Stephen Sarvi along with other local officials to listen to immediate issues of concern and oppor-tunities facing Victoria and Watertown on Thursday, July 24th, at the City Hall in Victoria at 1:30 p.m. Past trips around Minnesota have allowed Mische to discuss issues related to jobs and economic growth with city officials. He also exchanged ideas con-cerning local issues such as housing, water, transportation, and environmental protection. Mische has also relayed Senator Coleman's commitment to assisting com-munities in their jobs and economic development efforts in Greater Minnesota. Both Coleman and Mische intend for these meetings to create long-term work-ing relationships between Senator Cole-man's State Office and local officials. Along with his visit to Victoria and Watertown, Mische will travel to several other cities in Carver County, including Norwood Young America, Cologne, New Germany, Excelsior, and Shorewood. Tom Steward, Washington, D.D.
To the Editor: On behalf of the American Red Cross, the community of Victoria is to be commended for its dedication and volun-teerism for the bloodmobile on July 28th. A total of 109 people showed up to donate 102 pints of blood; there were 10 deferrals. Special thanks to recruitment callers, the St. Victoria Parish, those who helped with publicity, those who helped the day of the draw, the Victoria Lions, Chaska McDonald's, and all donors. Congratulations to Jeni Haddad and Carol Kahnke for being first time donors, and Greg Bleck for his four-gallon pin. Thank you to everyone who made this bloodmobile successful, especially those who walked in to donate blood without being contacted.
