More Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:
Great newspaper and super articles!  Although much has changed since I was a little girl attending school in Victoria, you bring "home" to me quite often in your features and monthly columns and, yes, even in your letters to the editor, especially the one about the Grimm Farm from Thomas McDowell, Director of Natural Resources Management at Hennepin Parks.
I sent a message to Kathy Dummer, the person who contacted me about the Grimm Farm Restoration, but have not received an answer.  I am in need of the information as I have been asked to be the reader at a wedding on October 6th and need to give an answer to the invitations can be print-ed.  Now I am hoping you can clarify the date problem.
Thanks in advance for the info and also thanks for doing the Victoria Gazette, and I hope you will be there in October because you were there to tell my dad's story about the farm before it was "famous!"

To the Editor:
When the bees land on page 22 to pollinate those lilies, they'll be in for a sharp surprise.  When they get the pollen, they'll be "hooked" on it.  Save all those fish cleaning remains and bury them in the flowers or trees.  They are an all-natural, all-purpose fertilizer.  But lay heavy rocks over the burial spot to keep out the local neighborhood kitties.

To the Editor:
I read with interest a recent item in the City News section of the Gazette about a new trail at County Road #18.  Could you tell me who and how one would go about proposing another new trail?  We would like to propose one going from the east-west bike trail between Highways 5 and 7 where it crosses at Rolling Acres Road to the Arboretum.  There's really no way to safely ride a bike to the Arboretum from the north side of Highway 5.
Thank you for the wealth of information (and humor) you provide for Victoria residents.
Regards,
Lori Mans, Victoria, Minnesota,  via e-mail

To the Editor:
Sending you some small gifts, etc., and I have found the fishhook!  I had a hole in one on #3 and when I got my ball out of the hole, there, and behold, was a fishhook imbedded in the golf ball.  I'm sending you the evidence, as Jackie Gleason would say.
I cannot make it to the Lions Softball Tournament this year as I'm too busy here (golf, etc.).  Say hello to all the Victoria people for me.
Whitey Wellens, Davenport, Flordia

EDITOR'S NOTE:  Thank you, Whitey, for the fun surprise package.  I especially enjoy the golf ball with the fishhook through the middle of it!

To the Editor:
Nobody voted whether or not I got to move to Victoria nine years ago.  We buy property and build our homes.  I say Mary Jo Copeland and company can do the same.
I'm really amazed that anyone is against this children's residence.  I'm appalled  and disgusted that someone moved here to "get away from all this."  Come on, people!  Where's your charity, your love, your heart?
I'm with Tom Stumpf and Richard Tieden and all the other good citizens who say, "Let 'em in!"

To the Editor:
I am moving from Alexandria, Virginia, and need to be taken off your mailing list temporarily, probably only for the August, 2001, edition.  I will send my new address after I move.  Thanks.
Dan Schmieg, via e-mail

To the Editor:
Please take my name off your mailing list.  I have enjoyed reading your paper for 16 years, but my eyesight doesn't allow me to read anymore.  Thank you for everything.

Please consider covering River Bluff Girl Scouts' annual regional day camp at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park in Chanhassen from July 30th to August 2nd.  Participants are Girl Scouts who attend private or public schools within School District #112.  Theme this year is "Twi-light Down Under."  If you do send out a reporter or photographer, please have them check in at our Camp Headquarters.  Thank you for your time.
