To the Editor: We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, July 29th, with a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Our children hosted an Open House at the Park Ballroom in New Prague. We were married at the St. Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria on August 1st, 1951. My husband Gerald is related to the Williams and Kerbers. Clarence Kelzer and Tony Kerber and Lawrence and Jerome Williams are cousins. There are lots of cousins around Victoria. We farmed on the farm that has the famous red barn at the Arboretum. Our four oldest children were baptized at St. Victoria and the two oldest made their First Communion there. Carver County still feels like home to us as I was raised near Cologne and attended and graduated from Waconia High School. Thank you to all who remembered us in so many ways. It is appreciated. Carol Williams, New Prague, Minnesota
To the Editor: Was online looking for patio furniture and saw an article that you had written about the Home and Garden Business Expo. Just has to shoot off a note to greet you and tell you how nice it was to be able to see a picture of a classmate and see you are still looking great. Hope all is well with you, Allan, and your family. Please greet Allan for me. Ruthine VanOverbeke, Formerly of Minneota, Minnesota via e-mail
To the Editor: Our Threshers' book is being published by Crow River Press in Hutchinson, where you print the Gazette. Nice guys. My book by Father Elstan has come apart. To the Editor: Over $84,500 was raised at the annual Ridgeview Foundation Golf Extra-vaganza held in June at the Island View Golf Club in Waconia. There were 216 golfers, 150 volunteers, 72 bridge players, and hundreds of community friends who helped make this year's event so successful. Our sincere thanks to the many businesses and people from throughout the region who supported the extravaganza with their participation, outright gifts, and in-kind donations. Proceeds will be used to endow a permanent scholarship fund for area high school seniors pursuing a career in health care. In addition to the money raised at the Golf Extravaganza, Sprint Telephone recently presented a gift of $10,000 to Ridgeview Foundation for the Scholar-ship Fund. The gift is in memory of Harold and Marie Bollinger, former long time residents of Waconia. Scholarships will be awarded at the following high schools for seniors pursuing a career in health care. The first scholarships will be awarded in 2002 to: Central Norwood Young America, Chaska, Delano, Delano, Holy Trinity at Winsted, and Holy Family at Victoria (first senior Class of 2004), Howard Lake/ Waverly/Winsted, Lester Prairie, Mayer Lutheran, Minnetonka, Mound/Westonka, Orono High, Waconia, and Watertown.
