Letters-April '05 continued

To the Editor:
I would like to invite our neighbors to a meeting the City of Victoria is planning with officials of Carver Park to discuss park plans, trail improvements, and a pro-posed dog park which might be construct-ed in 2006.  We have secured two possible dates - either March 28th or 29th at Victoria City Hall.
Since we are Carver Park neighbors, we all have an interest in changes that may be considered by the Park and its officials.  As you may also know, since the Park is run by Three Rivers Park Dis-trict, we have some limitations on influ-encing decisions.  For that reason, I think it would be good to have an "annual meet-ing" with the Park to discuss possible changes, upgrades, and issues.  I am hoping this would be a "first" with more dialog to come.
We might also discuss the former Goodman property, which is adjacent to our neighborhood, that has been donated to the City of Victoria.  I know a number of neighbors would like to get a project going related to that effort.  Please let me know if you would like to attend such a meeting and which day would work best for you.
I would like the Parkview folks to know about this too because any park changes could impact traffic on Park Drive and other issues.  Thanks.

To the Editor:
Hi, Sue.  Please place the attached ad in the next issue of your wonderful paper.  The ads you have placed for our team look fantastic.  I have gotten many calls off of them.  Let's have dinner soon.  Miss you.

To the Editor:
Mike Wartman isn't the only one raised with the obligations of Lent.  During Lent for supper we would have scrambled eggs, creamed peas, and fried potatoes (raw potatoes, peeled, sliced, and fried).  Mom cooked in iron fry pans.
I prefer eggs at breakfast, not supper.  Dad hates any fish.  Mom loved it but never cooked fish when Dad was home.  When he was at a Legion convention, then she'd make fish.
Other Lenten meals for supper we would have tomato soup and homemade dumplings, sometimes noodles.  I suggest-ed to Ma to make plain spaghetti or lasagna with no hamburger in it.  She'd say, "Ach, Dad won't like that."  I asked her, "Did you ever try it?"  She'd say, "Ach, no, never mind."
After Mom died in February of 1991 it was Lent and I made plain spaghetti.  That night Dad chowed down three plates of it.  "Tastes just as good plain," he said.
The Easter bunny and I went fishing and found the fishhook on page 39.  Ahoy, maties!  Happy Easter.

To the Editor:
Thank you so very much for the wonderful articles and the updates on family happenings.  You dad is a great 80-year old gentleman.  You're lucky to have such great people as parents.  I so enjoy them.  Their intelligence, charm, energy, faith, are good examples to everyone.  Congratulations on your new grandchild.
Love,

To the Editor:
Thank you for a great newspaper.  It's nice reading about old friends and neighbors and relatives.  The story about Moses and Jesus (in your Eclectic Emails column) was the funniest I've read in a long time.  Enclosing extra for a great paper.

To the Editor:
On Wednesday, March 15th, we had a visit from Steve Corkery and his wife.  They saw Bonnie's letter in the Gazette and since they were going to be in Fort Meyers, they called to visit us.  He deliv-ered a copy of the March Gazette and in it we saw the reminder of subscription payment in the enclosed envelope.  There was no envelope in the copy you sent us.  Now we began to wonder about last year so I'm enclosing a check for $20 just in case.  If we did pay, have a drink on us.  We'll see you back home in May.  Take care.  (Steve Corkery is from Holy Family Catholic High School.)
